Monster Musume: Everyday Life with Monster Girls is a romantic-comedy fantasy. Created by OKAYADO, Monster Musume: Everyday Life with Monster Girls features series production by Kazutaka Yamanaka (GANTZ:O, My Hero Academia), Miho Hora, and Takahiro Ishiyama (Alice & Zoroku, A Centaur's Life). Monster Musume: Everyday Life with Monster Girls is not technically a hentai anime but it does fall squarely into the sex-comedy genre. Monster Musume: Everyday Life with Monster Girls is a raunchier, steamier, sexier, and tentacle-abundant anime. Distributed by Sentai Filmworks, expect plenty of explicit content.
Executive produced by Hiroto Kumagai (Fantastic Detective Labyrinth, Neo Angelique Abyss), Junya Tamano, Keiji Ota (Dr. Stone, Ghost in the Shell: Arise), Kenichi Hirano, Kenichi Yoshida, Kōichi Kokago (High School DxD New, The Misfit of Demon King Academy II), Masato Yoshida (Laid-Back Camp, ROOM CAMP), Noboru Yamada (Konohana Kitan, Land of the Lustrous), Shinjiro Ayuzawa (My First Girlfriend is a Gal, My Girlfriend is Shobitch), and Tarō Maki (El-Hazard: The Magnificent World, Serial Experiments Lain). Monster Musume: Everyday Life with Monster Girls features Japanese voice performances by Ari Ozawa, Haruka Yamazaki, Junji Majima, Mayuka Nomura, Natsuki Aikawa, Sakura Nakamura, and Sora Amamiya. Monster Musume: Everyday Life with Monster Girls will appeal to fans of sex-hijinks comedies looking for a sweaty and tentacle-laden diversion.
Kimihito Kurusu (Junji Majima) didn’t realize that the world was populated with monster girls. It was surprising to discover that monster girls are everywhere. The mysterious creatures roam around the planet. Now these creatures are appearing before him as a part of an unexpected exchange program. These creatures are now being integrated into the rest of the population. Kimihito is now surrounded by swarms of these monster girls. Miia (Sora Amamiya) looks hot to him and he wonders if things will work out – perhaps monsters can live with people. As more as more monster girls start turning up, the bosom ladies find themselves tossing themselves into his life.
Kimihito is another in-over-his-head character surrounded by ladies. The archetype of many sex comedy anime series, Kimihito is tossed into one scenario after another. Miia is a lead protagonist for the series and delves into the romantic-entanglement with Kimihito. The characters take on the roles of the usual sex-hijinks comedy leads and the series explores both comedy and romance. The character designs by Takaya Sunagawa are decent and well-suited for this type of production.
The animation is surprisingly good for the genre. The animation is bright and colorful with a nice array of visual qualities inherent in the art. Monster Musume: Everyday Life with Monster Girls features art direction by Hiroko Tanabe (Stella of the Theater: World Dai Star, Let's Make a Mug Too). The chief animation direction by Shunji Akasaka (Black Clover, Golden Kamuy) and Takaya Sunagawa (Black Clover, Twin Star Exorcists) brings out the best in the animation style.
The cinematography by Kazuyoshi Shiomi (Unbreakable Machine-Doll, Kasimasi - Girl Meets Girl) is a nice highlight of the production. The cinematography is vivid and emphasizes the colorful animation. Lighting is enormously bright and brings to mind the “pop” of adult entertainment. This makes sense considering the series emphasis on these erotic and adult content. The cinematography is right in line with what one would expect for a well-lit adult anime.
The score composed by Hiroaki Tsutsumi (Dr. Stone: New World, Teasing Master Takagi-san) and manzo (Miss Kuroitsu From the Monster Development Department, Summoned to Another World for a Second Time) is a decent score. As background music, the music fits the style of the genre. The score isn’t an enormous slam dunk but it does work as decent background score music for the sex comedy.
Written by Kazuyuki Fudeyasu (How NOT to Summon a Demon Lord, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure), Monster Musume: Everyday Life with Monster Girls isn’t the most sophisticated sex-comedy. The series has a romantic side that some may appreciate but it also is a somewhat standard hentai-esque light sex comedy. Though perhaps not always as sexually explicit as the most graphic productions, writer Fudeyasu still bring in a lot of similar elements – such as tentacles (in abundance).
Directed by Tatsuya Yoshihara (Black Clover, Long Riders!), Monster Musume: Everyday Life with Monster Girls is on-par with what one may expect for the sex-comedy genre. Plenty of hijinks as characters are tossed into one compromising position after another – with the swarm of monster girls having one role after another in the comedy. Though Monster Musume: Everyday Life with Monster Girls isn’t as explicit as the most graphic hentai anime series, it should appeal to a similar audience and offers a similar sex-comedy experience.
Released on Blu-ray by Crunchyroll, Monster Musume: Everyday Life with Monster Girls is presented in 1080p MPEG-4 AVC encoded high-definition in the original television broadcast aspect ratio of 1.78:1 widescreen. The release features a solid presentation. The animation is bright and colorful on the release. Clarity and definition are excellent. There are plenty of fantastic visual qualities to the presentation. There is plenty of "pop" to the vivid presentation and it is a crisp image, too.
The Blu-ray release provides an advantage over streaming options. Physical media typically provides higher video bit-rates and can yield a somewhat improved image. For enthusiasts wanting to eek out the absolute best in the picture-quality, perhaps someone wanting to see every pore and crevice of this sexy comedy, the Blu-ray can help bring out these elements for purveyors.
The release includes a selection of lossless audio options: English DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 and Japanese DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 (with English subtitles). The sound direction by Hiroto Morishita (AOKANA: Four Rhythm Across the Blue, I've Somehow Gotten Stronger When I Improved My Farm-Related Skills) is well reproduced. A crisp presentation of the sound design.
The release capably preserves detail in the audio presentation. Interestingly, both the English and Japanese options are about on-par with the stereo audio presentation options. There are no 5.1 surround sound mixes on the release and not in either language option. The Japanese language version will please fans of the original looking for a crisp sounding lossless encoding. The English subtitles are well done and free from egregious spelling or grammatical errors.
The release does benefit from one of the hallmarks of the Blu-ray disc format and physical media: the lossless audio encoding. For audiophiles and home theater enthusiasts wanting the best possible audio presentation, there can be a distinct advantage. The lossless audio allows for every moan and sound in the tentacle-rife anime to come through with crisp clarity and definition.
The release comes in a standard Blu-ray case. The release does not include an o-card slipcover. The release does not include a digital copy code.

Sentai Filmworks did a good thing by including the myriad of shorts on the release. These shorts certainly help to add some extra value to the collection. Fans will appreciate their inclusion.
Monster Musume: Everyday Life with Monster Girls is a sex-romp escapade for audiences looking for some steamy fun. The anime has plenty of moments of sexual hijinks. These elements add to the foreplay. The Blu-ray release provides a steamy high-definition presentation and lossless audio presentation.
