Lionsgate Film's Vestron Video imprint has been a fun source of retro offerings through the years, and if even diehard fans might be forced to admit that this or that given film might not exactly be a masterpiece, there are almost always a glut of really enjoyable supplemental features to sweeten the pot. The Vestron Video imprint released a standard packaging Maximum Overdrive around five years ago (kind of hard to believe it's been that long), and now for the first time to my immediate memory they're revisiting a title with some fun SteelBook packaging. Other than that, the two releases seem to be identical, and so I'll simply point to my original review, below, for those interested in more information.

On disc supplements are detailed in the above linked review. This SteelBook has one of the more fun and maybe for some funny illustrations in recent memory, with a certain evil vehicle's sinister face spilling across the front and rear covers. An interesting palette features almost alien greens and oranges, and perhaps not surprisingly a hint of chartreuse. The inside features a somewhat more graphically disturbing image on the left panel. A digital copy is also included.
As I mentioned in my original review linked to above, when even Stephen King is not overly enthusiastic about his own efforts, it's probably best to temper expectations. This would therefore seem to be a somewhat odd choice for Lionsgate and its Vestron Video imprint to bring out again in SteelBook packaging, but for those who enjoy this kind of collectible, the cover illustration is kind of goofily enjoyable.
