Psst. Hey, kid! Yeah, you. Do you want almost 100 classic Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies shorts for less than $40? Warner Archive has you covered with the aptly-named Collector's Choice Volumes 1-4, a space-saving and efficient set that, like their recent Complete Thin Man Collection, simply packs a bunch of already-released Blu-rays into one handy package at an even more reduced price. Needless to say, this one is an absolutely essential purchase for Golden Age animation fans and possibly even worth the "upgrade" if you already own the first three -- as of this writing, it's just barely over $10 more than the stand-alone release of Volume 4 being released the same day.

For my thoughts on these 1080p transfers (which are unfortunately a bit hit-or-miss but mostly consistent between volumes), please see my separate reviews of each release linked below.

Likewise, thoughts on the DTS-HD 2.0 Master Audio mixes can be found in my reviews below.

This space-saving collection ships in a package not much thicker than your average Blu-ray keepcase, with all four discs sitting on two double-sided hinges. As with the individual releases, the front cover features a new collage image and no inserts or episode lists are included either on the packaging or on each color-coded disc.
Only two bonus shorts are included on the Volume 4 disc, which are included in the total number of 97 above.

Almost any classic Looney Tunes or Merrie Melodies short is time well spent, so the thought of getting nearly 100 for the price of your average new release movie is almost mind-boggling. That said, these four volumes aren't perfect: the A/V presentations occasionally vary in quality and there are no real bonus features to speak of... but either way, you'd be crazy not to pick this bad boy up unless you own at least three already. Highly Recommended.
