In search for his stolen pot of gold, the Leprechaun (Davis) left a bloody trail wherever he went. That was a thousand years ago. Now, a thousand years later, the Leprechaun is back in search of a wife. He finds someone he likes the look of, but when her boyfriend steals one of the Irish monster's precious gold coins, things begin to turn ugly. In order to marry his new bride, the Leprechaun must do whatever he can to get his coin back. Even, if it means killing a few people.

If a certain monster got a potential spouse in Bride of
Frankenstein, why can’t a little leprechaun? That seems to have been the guiding premise behind this second Leprechaun
outing, one which ports over Warwick Davis as the petulant little green man but which is otherwise a sequel in name only. There is at least a
certain structural similarity here, with a prologue setting up the main storyline. In this case, a millennium old attempt by the leprechaun to get
hitched is finally realized in 20th century Los Angeles.
Leprechaun 2 is presented on Blu-ray courtesy of Lionsgate Films with an AVC encoded 1080p transfer in 1.78:1. Considering the very low budget of this film, this high definition presentation is surprisingly vivid looking, with a clear, stable picture and accurate looking and nicely saturated colors. Contrast is more consistent here than in the first film, adding definition to the misty, darker sequences. Detail is quite appealing in close-ups, though some of the seams of Davis' makeup can be spotted.
Leprechaun 2 features a lossless DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 track that sports reasonable fidelity and decent dynamic range, at least given an understanding of the film's less than fulsome budget. Dialogue comes through just fine, though there are occasional very slight issues with distortion and crackling that appear to be source related.
Leprechaun 2 is still able to whip up a few scares and some intermittent laughs, but it can be a slog to get through, with an over convoluted plot and some less than Oscar worthy performances. Technical merits here are generally very good and the supplementary package is excellent, for those considering a purchase.
