Last Action Hero 4K Blu-ray Movie Review
Reviewed by Martin Liebman May 17, 2021Sony has widely released a UHD SteelBook packaging variant for the satirical 1993 John McTiernan Action film 'Last Action Hero.' This SteelBook streets several weeks ahead of the standard packaging variant which is also widely available. See the 'Special Features and Extras' section of the review below for more on the SteelBook's look and feel.

Last Action Hero 4K Blu-ray Movie, Special Features and Extras

Sony's smooth, glossy SteelBook features colorfully reflective front side artwork that displays a very familiar image that depicts Jack Slater, biceps
bulging, holding onto Danny Madigan, who is himself holding tightly to his popcorn, as they burst out of a movie screen, hanging from a helicopter, with
all sorts of renderings and action-type
scenes and visual effects playing out behind them, some of which relate directly to this film, some of which don't. A movie crowd appears almost in
silhouette across the bottom. The film's title is scrawled in yellow-to-orange type at a curved diagonal along the bottom. "Schwarzenegger" is similarly
written across the top. The rear panel depicts Jack Slater in an
action pose, holding his Desert Eagle pistol, pointed upward, from a key scene in the film. The black spine features the film's title, center, as it is
depicted on the front. A Sony logo in white appears at the bottom.
Inside, the digital copy code is tucked underneath the left-hand-side tabs. The two discs, one UHD and one Blu-ray, are situated on the right in
staggered-stacked formation. The inner print is a two-panel spread that depicts Jack Slater, firmly on the right, leaning over his open-top convertible
while a huge explosions appears behind him.

Last Action Hero 4K Blu-ray Movie, Overall Score and Recommendation

Sony doesn't really do anything particularly interesting with this SteelBook, but it looks nice enough, featuring a classic Action movie poster artwork on the front and emphasizing guns (rear panel) and explosions (interior) elsewhere. The film is great and the UHD presentation is rock-solid, too. Highly recommended.
