Knock at the Cabin 4K Blu-ray Movie Review

Reviewed by Martin Liebman May 30, 2023

Universal and Best Buy have collaborated on a store exclusive UHD SteelBook release for the 2023 M. Night Shyamalan film 'Knock at the Cabin.' The disc and digital content is identical to that found in the wide release. See the 'Special Features and Extras' section of the review below for more on the SteelBook's look and feel.

Knock at the Cabin 4K Blu-ray Movie, Special Features and Extras  2.5 of 5

Universal's matte SteelBook features a blood-red terrain in the bottom quarter of the front panel with the house sitting atop it against a black background which fills the rest of the middle and upper areas. A hand is reaching down to it, and the spaces between the fingers are made by the silhouettes of the Four Horsemen. The film's title runs across the top, and above that is a "wrist" wearing a red sleeve. The rear panel features similar color schemes. The background is black and the Four Horseman are looming larger than life over the house. They are casting blood red shadows. The spine is red and black to match the front. The film's title appears center in the same script as seen on the front. A Universal logo appears on the bottom.

Inside, the digital copy code is tucked underneath the left-hand-side tabs. The two discs, one UHD and one Blu-ray, are situated on the right in staggered-stacked formation. The inner print is a two-panel spread that features a blood-red background with the Four Horsemen characters in black silhouette, each holding their makeshift weapons. Somehow it brings to mind Chidren of the Corn.

Knock at the Cabin 4K Blu-ray Movie, Overall Score and Recommendation  3.5 of 5

This is a well designed SteelBook. It plays with shadow and color suggestion quite effectively. It's better than the movie. The UHD presentation is solid, too. Recommended for fans and packaging collectors.
