Jurassic Park 4K Blu-ray Movie Review

Reviewed by Justin Dekker March 17, 2026

Based on a novel by Michael Crichton, 'Jurassic Park' returns to 4K UHD disc in this new release from Universal. Previously only available in two multi-film sets, the Jurassic Park Trilogy: Limited Edition SteelBook 4K, and the Jurassic World: 7-Movie Collection 4K, the latest iteration of the film, with both a Dolby Atmos audio track and a new 2160p presentation with Dolby Vision, is now a standalone release. The original blockbuster film featured an all-star cast that included Sam Neill ('Merlin'), Laura Dern ('Blue Velvet'), Jeff Goldblum ('The Fly (1986)'), and Richard Attenborough ('The Great Escape'), not to mention groundbreaking effects that continue to delight today. A foil enhanced slipcover, a Blu-ray disc, and a Digital Code redeemable via Movies Anywhere are also included.

For appreciation of the feature film, please follow this link to the review of it's original release.

Jurassic Park 4K Blu-ray Movie, Overall Score and Recommendation  4.5 of 5

One of the highest grossing films of the 1990s, the original Jurassic Park had a massive impact on the movie-going public upon its initial theatrical release, thrilling audiences with dazzling dinosaurs running amok, excellent supporting performances from Samuel L. Jackson and Wayne Knight, and Jeff Goldblum's highly quotable turn as Dr. Ian Malcom, the foremost chaotician in all of cinema. Its scenes and characters are even at the heart of a humorous new commercial campaign from an internet service provider, demonstrating the the film's continued cultural significance some three-decades after it first graced the silver screen. While the six sequels (to date) have all entertained and thrilled, recycling and revising the original film's formula to varying degrees, the first film, in my mind, still stands as the high-water mark for the franchise. The Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos upgrades provide material improvements over the previous 4K release. Fans of the original trilogy, or the franchise as whole, who have been hesitant to pick up one of the previous multi-film sets with the new 4K presentation should be pleased, and the new stand-alone release of Jurassic Park 4K comes very highly recommended.
