Jack Reacher 4K Blu-ray Movie Review

Reviewed by Martin Liebman April 16, 2022

Paramount has released a UHD SteelBook packaging variant for the 2012 Tom Cruise film 'Jack Reacher.' The disc and digital content is identical to that found in the wide release, which debuted in 2018. See the 'Special Features and Extras' section of the review below for more on the SteelBook's look and feel.

Jack Reacher 4K Blu-ray Movie, Special Features and Extras  3.5 of 5

Paramount brings Jack Reacher's 4K UHD release to SteelBook with glossy-smooth exterior panels that will show some handling fingerprints. The front panel features Reacher, facing forward from about the hips up, holding a gun in his right hand. The character is bathed in darkness with a dark background behind him, lit from the side by fiery red light; some embers float about the front right side. The film's title in red spaces across the front just above the midline. "Tom Cruise is" appears above in smaller white letters. The rear panel features a quote from the film: You think I'm a hero? I am not a hero. And if you're smart that scares you because I have nothing to lose." The text, which appears against a dark background, is a combination of smaller and larger letters with some fire effects and orange-red colors filling in the letters. Small studio logos and legalese line the bottom center area. The spine is black and features the film's title in red center. A Paramount logo appears at the top while the text "2-disc set" is accompanied by UltraHD and Blu-ray logos at the bottom.

Inside, the digital copy code is tucked underneath the left-hand-side tabs. The two discs, one UHD and one Blu-ray, are situated on the right in staggered-stacked formation. The inner print is a two-panel spread that features a black and white photo of Reacher far left in a city environment. In color on the bottom right is a red car.

Jack Reacher 4K Blu-ray Movie, Overall Score and Recommendation  4.0 of 5

This is a run-of-the-mill SteelBook that is stylistically similar to Paramount's recent issue of Shooter with the main character on the front (along with some Photoshop fire) and a quote on the back. The difference is the inclusion a character portrait inside. The film is solid and the UHD's A/V content is great, too. Recommended to packaging collectors.
