Irwin Allen enjoyed a long career in Hollywood, transitioning from television successes such as “Lost in Space” to theatrical endeavors, hitting it big with his focus on the disaster movie genre, with “The Poseidon Adventure” and “The Towering Inferno” helping to sustain a moviemaking trend during the 1970s. Alas, Shout Factory doesn’t have access to major titles for their “Irwin Allen: Master of Disaster” Blu-ray box set, instead highlighting lesser known offerings and outright bombs from the producer, supplying fresh scans of “Flood,” “Fire,” “Beyond the Poseidon Adventure,” “When Time Ran Out,” “Hanging by a Thread,” “The Night the Bridge Fell Down,” and “Cave-In” for superfans of the subgenre and its most committed industry supporter.
