InuYasha: Set 3 Blu-ray Movie Review
A must-own InuYasha collection.
Reviewed by Neil Lumbard April 21, 2022
InuYasha: Set 3 continues the epic journey of the half-demon hero. The anime stands out as one of the most successful series of
all time. The anime is a non-stop thrill ride of action-packed fun. Set 3 of InuYasha includes episodes 56-83.
InuYasha adapts the original manga from beloved Rumiko Takahashi (Ranma ½,
Urusei Yatsura). The anime series is produced by Michihiko Suwa (Detective Conan) and Hideyuki Tomioka
(Mobile Suit Gundam Wing). The animation on InuYasha is produced by Sunrise (
Cowboy Bebop). Fans will be thrilled to continue the journey.
The adventure continues as school-girl Kagome leads a double-life. Living in present-day Japan as a student and in feudal era Japan as a
demon-slayer, Kagome finds herself facing new challenges with each passing day. Continuing to fight demons alongside the half-human/half-demon
InuYasha, she discovers new challenges await her on her journey.
Kagome, InuYasha, and their friends work together to find the legendary missing Shikon shards. As danger awaits in feudal Japan, Naruka
remains as their biggest foe (while other enemies lurk in the shadows – ogres, sages, and otherworldly monsters). Can Kagome be the hero
everyone needs?

The epic adventure continues.
InuYasha continues to have one of the best cast of characters in anime history. The series has such a wonderful ensemble group of
heroes leading the journey. InuYasha is a particularly complex hero: facing his inner-demons in a literal way (as a half-demon/half-
human being). Kagome is a great supporting character with a strong determination to succeed – and she proves herself a hero. A supporting
cast of characters helps round out the series.
One of the greatest assets of InuYasha is the animation. The series is a beautiful production and there is much to appreciate. The
character designs are pitch-perfect for both leading and supporting characters. Under the art direction of Shigemi Ikeda (My Hero Academia),
InuYasha excels as a first-rate anime.
Director Yasunao Aoki (Mobile Suite Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz) brings out the best from screenwriter
Katsuyuki Sumisawa (Dragon Ball Z, Sailor Moon). The anime is an outstanding showcase for the exceptional directing skills of Aoki.
The third collection of episodes continues to provide fans with exactly what they want: action, adventure, and mystery.
InuYasha: Set 3 Blu-ray Movie, Video Quality

Arriving on Blu-ray from VIZ Media, InuYasha: Set 3 is presented in 1080p MPEG-4 AVC encoded high definition in the original television
broadcast aspect ratio of 1.33:1 full frame. The series is an impressive standard-definition upscale. Despite not being from a native high-definition
source, the release looks worthwhile (despite source limitations). Colors are impressive and the hand-drawn animation shines. The encoding handles
the action scenes well.
InuYasha: Set 3 Blu-ray Movie, Audio Quality

The release is presented in Japanese DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 (with English subtitles) and English DTS-HD Master Audio. The high-resolution audio
tracks are immersive and impressive. The tracks manage to faithfully reproduce the sound design. Dialogue remains clear and easy to understand. A
worthwhile sound design. The music is well integrated in to the sound mix.

InuYasha: Set 3 Blu-ray Movie, Overall Score and Recommendation

InuYasha: Set 3 is another entertaining collection. One of the best anime series, InuYasha is a thrill ride with outstanding
storytelling. The characters are essential to the experience. The action-packed series has so much to offer fans. The Blu-ray release retains the original
4:3 aspect ratio and has a nice SD upscale. InuYasha fans will want to add the release to their collection. Recommended.
