Inside Out 4K (2015)

Growing up can be a bumpy road, and it's no exception for Riley, who is uprooted from her Midwest life when her father starts a new job in San Francisco. Like all of us, Riley is guided by her emotions - Joy, Fear, Anger, Disgust and Sadness. The emotions live in Headquarters, the control center inside Riley's mind, where they help advise her through everyday life. As Riley and her emotions struggle to adjust to a new life in San Francisco, turmoil ensues in Headquarters. Although Joy, Riley's main and most important emotion, tries to keep things positive, the emotions conflict on how best to navigate a new city, house and school.

Disney and Best Buy have collaborated on a three-disc store exclusive SteelBook release for the emotionally charged 2015 Pixar film 'Inside Out.' Yellow! Inside Out's SteelBook is sure to give positive emotional vibes with its calming, eye-catching predominant color. It's the main focus on the glossy, slick, smooth, fingerprint attracting front and rear panels. The film's title appears top center and is debossed (the accompanying "Disney Pixar" text is not). Its a dark deep blue color, which pairs nicely with the yellow (a combo that's very complimentary). Below are the five main characters -- Joy, Fear, Anger, Sadness, and Disgust -- set against a white profile image of the young girl they inhabit, Riley. The rear panel, as with all of the other Disney/Pixar SteelBooks from the September 2019 wave, features only a single image in the center, depicting one of the film's secondary characters, Bing Bong, Riley's imaginary friend. The spine is an offsetting blue color, the same shade as the title that appears on the front. The film's title appears center in white. An UltraHD logo may be found at the bottom.

Inside, the digital copy code floats; there are no tabs. One disc appears on its own hub on the left hand panel and two others in staggered-stacked formation on the right. The inner print is a two-panel spread that depicts Joy on the left, bounding and as gleeful as ever, and Sadness on the right, fretting over something or another.

Inside Out 4K Blu-ray Movie, Overall Score and Recommendation  4.0 of 5

This is perhaps the nicest color scheme of all the September 2019 Disney/Pixar SteelBook releases. The offsetting blue spine is the perfect compliment to the yellow that dominates the front and the rear. The artwork, both inside and out, is admittedly a little bland -- Disney certainly could have cooked up something a little more special -- but the colors are great and the on-disc content is likes strong. Highly recommended.
