Injustice is a must-see DC animated universe film based on the graphic novel by Tom Taylor (The Deep , The Example). Produced by James Krieg (Justice League Action, Green Lantern: The Animated Series), Rick Morales (Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders, Beware the Batman), and Ian Rodgers, Injustice is a compelling and thought-provoking story with Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, and other DC heroes.
The epic stage is set: the story of Injustice unfolds on an alternate version of Earth. The Joker (Kevin Pollak) is up to his nefarious ways: tricking Superman (Justin Hartley) into killing his beloved, Lois Lane (Laura Bailey). After the devastation of losing Lois Lane, Superman attempts to gain total control of the entire world in a fit of mad rage.
With the fate of the entire world hanging in the balance, Batman (Anson Mount) and his allies must team-up and defeat Superman from causing untold havoc. Can Batman, Wonder Woman (Janet Varney), Green Lantern (Brian T. Delaney), Cyborg (Brandon Micheal Hall) save the world? Everything is at stake.
The animation in Injustice is one of the core strengths of the film. As one of the most visually inventive DC animated universe movies, Injustice features great background artwork, character designs, and line-art. The detail in the animation is superb. This is a beautiful looking epic.
Fight for justice.
The music score composed by Robert J. Kral (Justice League Dark, Superman: Doomsday ) is entertaining and makes the comic-book mayhem come to life. The score is fun and energetic. Enhancing the set-pieces, composer Kral delivers an entertaining score with a big impact.
The screenplay by Ernie Altbacker (Teen Titans: The Judas Contract, Justice League Dark) is one of the more thoughtful and engaging scripts for the DCAU. The storyline is compelling and it asks the audience some real questions about the nature of justice – and the nature of injustice. The film has interesting ideas and explores some of them in a way that is unexpected for a DC animated title.
Directed by Matt Peters (Lego DC: Shazam – Magic & Monsters, Lego DC Batman: Family Matters), Injustice is an action-packed thrill ride with enough smarts to accompany the adventure. The action succeeds in spades and the storytelling is brought to life by Peters with a sense of dramatic wonder. Injustice delivers justice to the DC universe: don't miss it.
