Paramount has widely released a UHD SteelBook packaging variant for the classic 1989 franchise film 'Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.' The disc and digital content is identical to that found in the wide release, which is otherwise only available as part of an 'Indy' 4K collection. See the 'Special Features and Extras' section of the review below for more on the SteelBook's look and feel.

Paramount's glossy SteelBook will attract fingerprints in its darker areas, especially on the rear. The front panel recreates classic artwork for the film,
depicting most
prominently Indiana Jones top center and his father just to his right. Four other characters appear at the corners, including, clockwise top right and
around, Marcus Brody, Ernst Vogel, Elsa Schneider, and Salah. In the center is a depiction of an action sequence from the film; Indy is riding a horse,
facing forward, being chased by a small Nazi army. The film's title appears in the familiar color and script bottom center. The rear panel features an
orange-ish world map with the Holy Grail center. A bit of legalese and a couple of studio logos appear abput a fifth of the way up from the bottom in
slightly larger than normal, and obtrusive, size. The spine is
glossy-black with the film's title center in small print. A Paramount logo has been placed at the top and an UltraHD logo at the bottom, both in the same
color as the back paneling.
Inside, the digital copy code and the folded poster are tucked underneath the left-hand-side tabs. The lone UHD disc is situated on the right on a central
hub. The inner print is a two-panel spread that features a classic scene from the film in which Indy and his father are tied to chairs and caught in a
secret
revolving fireplace. The color tinting pushes red and is peculiar to say the least.

It's nice to see Paramount bring back original artwork for this one rather than drop some unattractive Photoshop hack. The rear panel is a little uninspired, but the front is great. The interior just looks somehow off. The poster is handsome and well worth framing with the others from the series. The film is legendary and the UHD is first-rate. Do note that supplements are practically zero. This SteelBook earns my highest recommendation.
