In America (2002)

After the tragic death of their two-year-old son, grieving Irish couple Johnny and Sarah Sullivan and their two surviving children, daughters Christy and Ariel, emigrate to the United States via Canada with almost no money. Their final destination is New York City. As Johnny strives to find employment as a stage actor, they move into a dilapidated apartment building populated by drug dealers, thugs, and transients in the hard-edged Hell's Kitchen neighborhood and find an unexpected friend in Mateo, an HIV-positive artist.
