It's been five years since Hiccup and Toothless successfully united dragons and vikings on the island of Berk. While Astrid, Snotlout and the rest of the gang are challenging each other to dragon races (the island's new favorite contact sport), the now inseparable pair journey through the skies, charting unmapped territories and exploring new worlds. When one of their adventures leads to the discovery of a secret ice cave that is home to hundreds of new wild dragons and the mysterious Dragon Rider, the two friends find themselves at the center of a battle to protect the peace. Now, Hiccup and Toothless must unite to stand up for what they believe while recognizing that only together do they have the power to change the future of both men and dragons.

With its acquisition of the DreamWorks catalogue, Universal has released the fan-favorite animated sequel 'How to Train Your Dragon 2' to Blu-ray. The studio's release of the series' first film featured identical video as found on the old Paramount release but offered a different soundtrack and fiddled with the included supplemental content. 20th Century Fox released 'How to Train Your Dragon 2' to Blu-ray in 2014 but, unlike Universal's release of the original film, this appears to be a direct port, offering the same language and subtle options, the same extras, and seemingly the same transfer. I do not have access to an actual copy of the Fox release but all evidence points to there being no changes. This review exists simply as a portal for linking to the actual Blu-ray disc included with Universal's UHD release of the film.

How to Train Your Dragon 2's Blu-ray release, this one from Universal, contains the same extras as found on the Fox disc. For full
supplemental reviews, please click here. For convenience, below is a listing of what's
included. This release ships with a Movies Anywhere digital copy code.
For whatever reason, Universal fiddled with the Paramount release for How to Train Your Dragon when porting it over but appears to have dropped the same disc Fox released for How to Train Your Dragon 2. Universal has at least priced this disc right, and it can also be found in the UHD release of the film. Recommended.
