Holiday Inn Blu-ray Movie Review
Reviewed by Jeffrey Kauffman January 26, 2021
Holiday Inn is sometimes less remembered than White
Christmas, the film which purloined its title from Holiday Inn's legendary (and Academy Award winning) Irving Berlin song. For
those who might need a reminder, Universal has re-released the film, bundling it this time with the appealing but rather radically reimagined stage
musical that
was developed based on the film.

Universal previously released the original film (in both black and white and a "new, improved" colorized version) in 2014. That disc is simply
repackaged here, so I refer you to my
Holiday Inn Blu-ray
review of that original release for a plot recap, a listing of supplements and my assessment of the technical merits of the presentation. This
release also includes the stage musical, as mentioned above, and for my thoughts on
that version, please head on over to my

New Irving Berlin Musical - Live on Broadway Blu-ray review.

Video quality of each disc is assessed in the above linked reviews. There are more screenshots of both the black and white and colorized versions of
the feature film in my original Holiday Inn Blu-ray review, and
more screenshots of the Broadway musical version in my Holiday Inn: The New Irving Berlin Musical - Live on Broadway Blu-ray review.

Holiday Inn Blu-ray Movie, Special Features and Extras

Supplements on the film version are detailed in my Holiday Inn Blu-
ray review. The stage version has no supplements and in fact doesn't even really have a Main Menu, simply booting to the show after a preview
and then starting over after the final curtain.
Holiday Inn Blu-ray Movie, Overall Score and Recommendation

If you already sprang for Holiday Inn a few years ago when it was first released on Blu-ray, the allure of this re-release will come down to
whether or not you care about seeing the stage version. For those who never got the first release, this might be the way to go, since you're getting a
"bonus" disc in the process. Recommended.
