Overview
Himouto! Umaru-chan: Complete Season 1 (2015)
The series follows Umaru Doma, a high school girl who lives with her older brother Taihei. At school, Umaru appears to be the ideal student with good looks, top grades, and a lot of talent. Once she gets home, however, she reverts into a layabout who spends her time lying around, playing video games, and constantly depending on her older brother, much to Taihei's dismay. Over the course of the series, Umaru's alternative personalities help her become friends with her female classmates Kirie Motoba, who has a reputation of glaring at people; and Sylphynford Tachibana, a competitive school rival; both of whom turn out to be little sisters of Taihei's coworkers.

To her classmates, Umaru Doma appears to be the perfect girl. She’s beautiful, friendly, and fashionable, earns top grades, and seems to be able to do any task asked of her with ease. She’s even humble and polite! However, if Umaru’s classmates could see her in the privacy of her home, they wouldn’t even recognize her. Once she’s inside the door, the pretty clothes come off, the orange hamster hood goes on, and it’s time to pig-out on snack foods, binge-watch television, and play violent video games! This version of Umaru is everything that the public Umaru isn’t: she whines, rolls on the floor, leaves messes all over the apartment, and makes life miserable for her poor older brother, Taihei. Even the most guarded secrets have a way of being found out, and, as Umaru becomes even more obnoxious and outrageous, her two lives are bound to collide in disastrous fashion in Himouto! Umaru-chan!

Umaru Doma isn't a superhero, but she could be a super-villain if she wasn't so lazy, and addicted to snack foods, comics, and video games. At school, she still appears to be the fashionable "Miss Perfect" her fellow students believe she is, but when she gets home, the popular girl façade comes off! Then the hamster cloak goes on, and her ogre-like otaku side is unleashed! So far, the only one who knows the whole truth is her loyal servant… er, older brother, Taihei, but lately Umaru's been finding it harder to maintain the personalities that different people know her by, while her relationships with Nana, Kirie, and Sylphynford all seem to be getting closer. Is she getting… gasp! Nicer? Or is it all part of some diabolical plot?
