Arriving on 4K UHD in a new 20th anniversary collectors edition, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone is a must-see family classic with enchanting magic that cast a spell on moviegoers across the globe. Return to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and set out on an adventure with the heroes at the heart of the story: Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe), Hermione Granger (Emma Watson), and Ron Weasley (Rupert Grint). The magic begins!
With Hogwarts headmaster Albus Dumbledore (Richard Harris), Professor McGonagall (Maggie Smith), and Hagrid (Robbie Coltrane), spellbinding magic is around every corner. Based on the beloved novel by J.K. Rowling, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone is a classic fantasy and adventure: the origin of one of cinema's most beloved film franchises. Fun for the entire family.
The film astonishes with exceptional production design efforts by Stuart Craig (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them) that sweep one in to the magic wizarding world. The sets decorated by Stephenie McMillan (Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince) are beautiful and detailed; providing great production aesthetics at every turn of the story. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone also features exceptional costumes by Judianna Makovsky (Avengers: Endgame, The Hunger Games) which give each character a sense of “wizardry” style.
There is something wondrous about the enchanting cinematography by John Seale (Cold Mountain, The English Patient) and the way the filmmaking pulls viewers into the world of magic with total ease. The filmmaking casts an enchanting spell. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone is full of outstanding visuals and the storytelling is all the more immersive as a result.
A magical edition for Harry Potter fans.
One of the greatest elements of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone is the music by John Williams ( Star Wars, Raiders of the Lost Ark). The score is one of Williams's best efforts and the music has a majestic quality that is undeniable. The epic themes soar and provide audiences with a thrilling and unforgettable journey.
The screenplay by Steve Kloves (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Wonder Boys) adapts the beloved novel by J.K. Rowling elegantly (and without leaving too-much on the cutting-room floor). Unlike some of the later entries in the franchise, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone adapts the book without sacrificing any key elements of the source-novel. Fans of the book series will appreciate how faithful the adaptation is.
Chris Columbus (Home Alone, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets) provided Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone with the magic necessary to become an endearing Hollywood classic. Roger Ebert compared this fantastic introduction to the franchise to “ The Wizard of Oz” and there is no doubt this is a fair and appreciable comparison: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone is one of the most enchanting films ever made. Twenty years later and it's still as magical as it was on opening day.
Released on 4K UHD in HEVC 2160p from Warner Bros., Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone is presented in the theatrical aspect ratio of 2.40:1 widescreen. The collectors edition of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone comes with exclusive steelbook packaging. While the steelbook has a basic matte finish (rather than a gloss print), the art-work is beautiful and Harry Potter fans will cherish the collectible release.
