After faking her death and changing her name to evade the murderous Michael Myers, Laurie Strode, now a teacher at a Southern California private school, is again targeted by her nemesis. Most of the school goes away on a trip, but her son John stays behind along with his girlfriend and a couple of other kids. John is now the age that Laurie was when Michael first attacked her friends, and she is scared and seemingly overprotective. But her fears are proved right when Michael returns to town, stalking first the teens and then Laurie herself.

Paramount has released a UHD issue of the franchise Horror film 'Halloween H20: Twenty Years Later.' The disc is identical to the studio's previous SteelBook packaging release. This issue is simply the disc in a standard Amaray case. This issue is greatly superior to the terrible Echo Bridge Blu-ray of 2011, but it lacks the fine collection of bonus features from the competing Shout! Blu-ray and 4K issues.

Once upon a time, I reviewed that above-linked Echo Bridge Blu-ray and found it to be a pretty terrible Blu-ray. I would go so far as to call it "notoriously bad," coming from that era of cheap Echo Bridge releases that seemed more concerned with getting the film "on Blu-ray" rather than "looking presentable" (never mind good or great) on Blu-ray. Fortunately, Paramount did "better" by the film with its 4K UHD presentation which the studio released in 2023. It's not perfect, but Paramount's issue definitely offers a sizable improvement over the Echo Bridge, issue, starting with the aspect ratio and including overall definition, detail, and color presentations. Sadly, no extras are included. Nothing was included with the previous SteelBook issue, either. It does include a slipcover and a fresh digital copy code.

With the previous SteelBook unavailable, and both Shout! discs off the market (outside of this pricier multi-film collection), this is now the only way to get Paramount's UHD release of H20. It's nothing at all spectacular: the video is only decent (though much improved over Echo Bridge), the audio is still lossless 5.1 only, and there are zero extras. Recommend for fans, especially with everything else on the market pretty much gone.
