Guardians of the Galaxy 4K Blu-ray Movie Review
Reviewed by Martin Liebman October 9, 2019
Disney and Best Buy have collaborated on a store exclusive SteelBook release for Director James Gunn's fantastic Marvel Cinematic Universe film
'Guardians of the Galaxy.' The disc and digital content is identical to that found in the wide release. See the 'Special Features and Extras' section of the review below
for more on the SteelBook's look and feel.

Guardians of the Galaxy 4K Blu-ray Movie, Special Features and Extras

Disney's MCU SteelBooks are certainly not about subtlety. Like most all of the others in the UHD series, Guardians of the Galaxy's front cover
features a cluttered poster-style image that focuses on the five main characters: Peter, Gamora, Drax, Rocket, and Groot -- while various spaceships zip
about the sky. A large, dark planet appears top right. It's very much in the style of 1980s Sci-Fi art, which is a nice touch. Better, there's no text
cluttering the front. The dark blue border with various points of wear appears around the front periphery. The rear panel is a blue color (with gradated
shades throughout) with a number of points of wear and scuffs. In the middle is a picture of Peter's "Awesome Mix" audio cassette. Across the bottom
are small-print logos, copyright notices, and a model number. The front and rear panels are glossy but this color scheme won't readily show excess
fingerprinting. The spine carries over the same dark color. The film's title appears in condensed type
center. A Marvel Studios logo appears at the top and an UltraHD logo may be found at the bottom.
Inside, the digital copy code is tucked underneath the left-hand-side tabs. The two discs, one UHD and one Blu-ray, are situated on the right in
staggered-stacked formation. The inner print is a two-panel spread that features the Guardians almost as if lined up for mugshots or posing for a police
lineup. Included left to right are Gamora, Peter Quil, Rocket Raccoon, Drax, and Groot. It's from the same photo shoot (but not the same photo) used
for the disc language selection prompt screen on the 2014 Blu-ray.

Guardians of the Galaxy 4K Blu-ray Movie, Overall Score and Recommendation

This reviewer usually isn't a fan of "busy" SteelBooks but this one is nice. There's no front cover text to overpower the image and the artwork is
enjoyably throwback. The rear panel and inner print are nothing to write home about but this is a nice SteelBook all-around, and the UHD content isn't
half bad, either. Highly recommended.
