Grabbers (2012)

Comedy-horror in which the inhabitants of a small Irish island discover that the only defense against an outbreak of deadly creatures is getting outrageously drunk. Young police officer Lisa is a newcomer to Erin Island, sent to cover the holiday of the island's Chief Constable. She’s paired with Ciaran, who mournfully warns her to prepare for extreme dullness, since there’s nothing to do on the island but get drunk – an attitude shared by Paddy, a fisherman with a drink habit, who catches a bizarre creature at sea and takes it home with him. The creature and its kin turn out to be aggressive killers, though strangely, both Ciaran and Paddy survive direct attacks. Gradually, the surviving islanders come to realise that alcohol is the key to defeating the 'grabbers' and duly organise their biggest ever booze binge. Purely in self-defence, of course...
