Gladiator II 4K (2024)

Paramount has widely released a UHD SteelBook packaging variant for Director Ridley Scott's long awaited 2024 sequel film 'Gladiator II.' Paramount's glossy SteelBook is simple in its design. The front panel features Hanno on the front, facing forward, standing in the arena, wearing battle armor, sweaty and bloody, holding a sword in each hand, and looking weary and to his left. The rear panel is a beige-y color with the text "Strength and Honor" emblazoned in large letters. The spine is black with the film's title, center. A Paramount logo appears at the top.

Inside, the digital copy code floats. There are three discs, one on its own hub on the left and two on the right on their own staggered-stacked hubs. The inner print is a two-panel spread that features a sene of tense gladiatorial combat: swords out, muscles tense, sweat glistening, and death for one or both combatants moments away.

Gladiator II 4K Blu-ray Movie, Overall Score and Recommendation  4.5 of 5

Gladiator II doesn't live up to the first film's legendary excellence, but it's a solid entertainer in its own right. The UHD content is first-rate and the SteelBook is very nice, too: maybe a little simple, especially on that back panel, but I think fans will find it well worth the premium price. Recommended, and do also note that this SteelBook is also available as part of a two-SteelBook collection with Gladiator.
