Fred stars with Judy Garland in Irving Berlin's EASTER PARADE, he-costars with the glamorous Cyd Charisse in THE BAND WAGON and SILK STOCKINGS, and made his final screen musical appearance with Petula Clark in Francis Ford Coppola's magical screen version of FINIAN'S RAINBOW

Warner Archive continues their ongoing onslaught of actor and genre-themed sets with the Fred Astaire Collection which, like others in their library, brings together previously-issued discs from WB and WAC as budget-priced, space-saving collections. True to form, this set collects four diverse films from Astaire's career including 1948's Easter Parade, 1953's The Band Wagon, 1957's Silk Stockings, and 1968's Finian's Rainbow, which also has the distinction of being the very first studio film directed by Francis Ford Coppola after his apprenticeship with Roger Corman.

For details about the included 1080p transfer, again please see the linked reviews below. As mentioned earlier, these are the same discs and have been averaged as a group in line with Michael Reuben's original ratings.

Likewise, details about each audio mix can be found at the review links below.

This four-disc set ships in a hinged keepcase with separate hubs for each disc. Like other Warner Archive multi-disc collections, this one repurposes existing poster-themed covers as a paneled collage. One or more modest bonus features are included on each disc and detailed in the review links below.

Fred Astaire's reliably great dancing, singing, and screen presence made him a popular fixture for most of the 20th century, as he continuously appeared on stage and screen (film and TV) for well over seven decades. That's a sizable body of work so Warner Archive's Fred Astaire collection only scratches the surface, but it's a solid entry-level set with four good-to-great films for under $40. All feature decent to excellent A/V merits and a few extras too, which means this collection is firmly Recommended to any and all fans who don't own the majority of these Blu-rays already.
