The first semester of the second year is coming to a close, and finals have begun! It seems that Soma and his classmates have been dealt a recipe for disaster: in just three days, they must make at least 3 million yen (approximately 27 thousand dollars) at the restaurant they've been assigned. However, while other teams have been placed in restaurants that are already in operation, Soma's team receives a dilapidated property that must be restored first! But that's only a minor challenge compared to what comes next, as the top students from all levels of Totsuki compete to become one of the school's three representatives at BLUE, one of the world's most legendary culinary competitions! Tempers flare, surprise ingredients abound, and someone's sure to get burned in most heated cook off of all in the fifth and possibly final season of Food Wars!

Food Wars: Fifth Plate returns to the kitchen for culinary delights. The Food Wars anime has a cult fanbase devoted to the anime. Created by Yūto Tsukuda and Shun Saeki, Food Wars: Fifth Plate impresses with more of the fan-favorite culinary school excitement that made the series so popular in the first place. Food Wars: Fifth Plate Limited Edition is a deluxe collectors set aimed at the series most diehard fans. Food Wars: Fifth Plate Limited Edition provides a plethora of special bonus collectables for fans.

The release comes with a selection of lossless audio options: English DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 and Japanese DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 (with English subtitles). The lossless audio capably presents the dialogue, the sound effects, and the score. The audio presentation is robust with the full spectrum of lossless audio encoding.

One of the great things about physical media and Blu-ray is lossless audio encoding. Lossless audio provides a crisper and more satisfying audio experience for enthusiasts. Home theater enthusiasts and audiophiles alike appreciate the more robust and detailed soundstage. Impressively crisp audio adds to the experience. Streaming video services only provide lossy (non-lossless) audio encoding. Streaming services often only provide MP3 quality audio. Food Wars: Fifth Plate Limited Edition is a deluxe collectors edition with robust packaging and a plethora of physical swag to whet the appetites of Food Wars cuisine lovers everywhere. The box-set features an impressive assembly of extra pack-in collectables including a deluxe food-plate style outer box with a fancy storage system. A treasure trove for the die-hard fan of the series.

In addition to the pull-out collector's box packaging (designed to look in unison with other sets in the Food Wars deluxe limited-edition line), the set also provides the Season 5 Blu-ray box-set in standard DVD sized clear packaging (staying in unison with the packaging selection for previous limited-edition sets), a collectable recipe notebook, a bamboo coaster collection, a sticker sheet collection, and a metal pin collectable. These physical swag items add extra value to the collector's edition for fans who prefer a more robust physical media edition with personal items and swag that one can't simply get from the on-disc supplements. The physical items add some extra flair to the box-set and the set was designed well in terms of staying true to the previous limited-edition releases for the anime.
