Director Emma Tammi and writer and franchise creator Scott Cawthorn return to the spooky world of Freddy Fazbear's Pizza which arrives on 4K
UHD disc in this 'Five Nights at Freddy's 2: Limited Edition SteelBook 4K' courtesy of Universal. The film, produced by Blumhouse, sees the original
cast of Josh Hutcherson, Piper Rubio, Elisabeth Lail, and Matthew Lillard reprise their roles here for the second installment of the franchise, with a
third film likely on the way. The film is accompanied by a modest assortment of light on-disc supplemental material. A Blu-ray disc, and a Digital
Code redeemable via Movies Anywhere are also included. For a discussion of the new SteelBook, please scroll down to the 'Special Features and
Extras' section below.
One year after the events of the first film, Five Nights at Freddy's 2, Mike (Josh Hutcherson: RV, Journey to the Center of the Earth,
and The Hunger Games franchise) is relatively at peace with the tragedy that marred his childhood, thanks in large part to his DIY "dream
therapy" and the showdown at the end of
Five Nights at Freddy's. But things haven't been so easy for Abby (Piper Rubio) who struggles to make human friends and still
longs to spend time with the (dangerous) animatronics of Freddy, Foxy, Bonny, and especially Chica. Vanessa (Elisabeth Lail, You), the
police officer, is battling her own demons. Her sleep is routinely haunted by visions of her villainous father, the psychological abuse she suffered as a
child, and needing to find a way to reconcile the atrocities he committed. When a group of amateur ghost hunters arrive in town, and the city begins
to prepare for the first "Fazfest", more of the murderous attraction's origins will be revealed, as the animatronics and the ghosts that guide them
once again seek to slake their thirst for human blood.

Five Nights at Freddy's: Limited Edition SteelBook 4K arrives with a glossy finish on the exterior of the case that serves to make the colors
present richer and more robust. The cover is dominated by deep red curtains. Peeking out from between them is this film's version of Freddy Fazbear
with his glossy, hard plastic body. His left eye looks toward the viewer, shining with a bright blue. The film's title appears in the bottom right corner in
its usual font. The back cover continues this design, and features similar red curtains with the battered Freddy Fazbear from the first film peeking out
from the curtains. Much of his plush exterior has been stripped away, leaving his endoskeleton visible. His right eye shines red-bordered orange at the
viewer. Copyright information and company logos appear faintly along the bottom. The SteelBook's spine is a simple black field with the film's title in
its
usual font in the center. It is devoid of other logos.
Opening the SteelBook, the tabs on the left hold the Digital Code. On the right side, the 4K UHD disc and the Blu-ray disc are stagger-
stacked, each on its own hub, with the 4K UHD disc on top. Removing all of the contents reveals two color images which carry the exterior's theme
through to the interior. On the left, Abby's beloved Chica is emerging from between the red curtains with a slightly menacing look on her face. On the
right, Bonnie is visible between the parted curtains. Both characters captured here are the versions found in the original Freddy
Fazbear's location which serves as the primary focus of the film. Given the role of the characters and their origins, it's a fitting design. There are no
embossed or debossed elements, and as the glossy finish shows fingerprints easily, all due care should be exercised when handling the SteelBook.
A small assortment of short supplemental features are included for fans to peruse.

Five Nights at Freddy's 2 is once again the beneficiary of an excellent location, wonderfully constructed and differentiated versions of Freddy and his crew, a new menace or two, and a massive built-in fanbase. That fandom even extends to several members of the cast. But while the set-ups and locations are present for chills and thrills to spare, scares remain in short supply. Lacking a real resolution, and based on the ending, the film primarily functions as a lead-in to the next film, which should excite franchise fans. For diehard fans of the IP looking for a more premium packaging option for the film, the Five Nights at Freddy's 2: Limited Edition SteelBook 4K is easy to recommend.
