F9: The Fast Saga 3D Blu-ray Movie Review

Reviewed by Neil Lumbard July 21, 2025

Fast & Furious 9 3D is an exciting and action-packed adventure with plenty of compelling elements for fans of the film franchise. Based on characters created by Gary Scott Thompson, Fast & Furious 9 3D features a story by Justin Lin, Alfredo Botello, and Daniel Casey. Produced by Vin Diesel (Fast X, Furious 7), Justin Lin (Star Trek Beyond, Fast & Furious 6), Joe Roth (Maleficent, Anyone But You), and Samantha Vincent (Fast X, Furious 7). Fast & Furious 9 3D stars Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Nathalie Emmanuel, Charlize Theron, John Cena, and Sung Kang.

After a period of quiet and peaceful refuge, Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) returns for another mission. Dominic Toretto and the other members of his family crew must team up to take down the dangerous international terrorists that pose a threat to their family unit. The journey is one full of action-packed fun featuring a huge cast including Letty (Michelle Rodriguez), Mia (Jordana Brewster), Roman (Tyrese Gibson), Tej (Ludacris), Ramsey (Nathalie Emmanuel), Cipher (Charlize Theron), Jakob (John Cena), and Han (Sung Kang).

The performances are excellent across the board. The cast of characters do terrific work with the action production. The actors all have a lot of fun with their respective roles. The results are outstanding and there is so much to appreciate about the dedication of the cast.

Edited by Greg D'Auria (Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Star Trek Beyond), Dylan Highsmith (Furious 7, Fast & Furious 6), and Kelly Matsumoto (Fast X, Fast Five), Fast & Furious 9 3D is a well-paced action extravaganza. There is so much to appreciate about the style of the filmmaking. The results add an abundance of wonderment to the film. The action scenes flow with incredible pacing and style. Outstanding.

The production designs by Jan Roelfs (Gattaca, 47 Ronin) are well-done and certainly offer up some compelling aesthetic qualities. Roelfs did a fantastic job and the results provide compelling style. A fantastic effort all around.

The costume designs by Sanja Milkovic Hays (Spider-Man: No Way Home, Captain Marvel) are impressive in spades. The costumes are perfect for the entire ensemble cast. The results are outstanding. There is so much to love and appreciate about the efforts by Hays.

Composed by Brian Tyler (Transformers One, The Super Mario Bros. Movie), Fast & Furious 9 3D is well composed. Tyler made a great score and it adds so much fun to the production. The music is fast and furious (just like the film series name itself). The score a perfect accompaniment to the over-the-top action scenes and moments of huge spectacle.

The cinematography by Stephen F. Windon (Star Trek Beyond, Furious 7) is impressive in spades. The cinematography provides a beautiful and lush visual sensibility to the production. The visuals are an enormous part of the fun. With the Fast & Furious franchise, one of the most compelling elements remains the visual sensibilities. The cinematographer did compelling work with the production.

Written by Daniel Casey (Kin, Drone) and Justin Lin (Better Luck Tomorrow, Finishing the Game), Fast & Furious 9 3D is a fun script and one of the most enjoyable ones in the entire franchise. The script has compelling dialogue and the character interactions are top-notch. There are so many fun moments between the cast members and the screenplay highlights the entire ensemble enormously well.

Directed by Justin Lin (Star Trek Beyond, The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift), Lin made one of the best films in the entire franchise with Fast & Furious 9 3D. Fast & Furious 9 3D is underrated and a must see. There are so many compelling action sequences. The action filmmaking is top-notch and provides an abundance of charm to the production. Fast & Furious 9 3D has one showstopping sequence after another and it all builds to an incredible climax.

F9: The Fast Saga 3D Blu-ray Movie, Video Quality  4.5 of 5

Released on 3D Blu-ray by Turbine Media, Fast & Furious 9 3D is presented in 1080p MPEG-4 MVC in the original theatrical aspect ratio of 2.39:1 widescreen. The release provides excellent high-definition video and a beautiful 3D presentation. Fast & Furious 9 3D features a robust 3D video presentation with crisp visuals and detail.

The 3D imagery is fantastic and is one of the best qualities of the 3D release. The great 3D presentation is a reference grade one and the 3D depth is showstopping throughout the entire feature. The 3D looks perfect on my reference-grade OLED65E6P: the best 3D display ever made. The 3D has stunning effects work and Fast & Furious 9 3D is presented with the upmost attention to detail for the 3D. If one had to choose between the 4K, 3D, and standard, the 3D is best possible viewing option for anyone who has an affection for the 3D format.

One of the cool things about physical media and the Blu-ray disc format is the superior video encoding. Streaming video services sometimes provide lower video bit-rates and there can be more compression to the image. Enthusiasts wanting the best possible presentation will be pleased with what is provided on the release. The 3D itself is only available on the 3D Blu-ray disc, too. Streaming options do not exist for this particular title and the 3D release was only made available in international territories as a 3D exclusive.

F9: The Fast Saga 3D Blu-ray Movie, Audio Quality  5.0 of 5

The Blu-ray release includes a Dolby Atmos surround sound presentation. The Atmos audio presentation is incredible. The surrounds are actively utilized and there is a wonderful sense of energy to the audio soundstage. The rear channels are beautifully used and there is a lot of immersion to the audio.

An incredible lossless sound mix and one that provides great depth and detail. Both the front and rear Atmos speakers are engaged throughout and the sound mixing is dynamic in spades. The Atmos is sourced from the 24-bit high-resolution Dolby TrueHD audio core and it adds up to an incredible presentation. The score is beautifully reproduced and is so well showcased in the presentation. Outstanding clarity for the music and the integration into the Atmos is top-notch, too.

One of the best qualities of physical media is the lossless audio encoding. Lossless audio provides true theater quality sound. For home theater enthusiasts and audiophiles alike, the audio presentation is robust and engaging. Streaming video services only provide lossy (non-lossless) audio encoding by comparison. There is a lot to appreciate about the audio and the immersive quality of its high resolution format.

F9: The Fast Saga 3D Blu-ray Movie, Special Features and Extras  n/a of 5

The release includes no on disc bonus features. Turbine Media has decided to not include any bonus features on the release. The idea is to emphasize the 3D picture quality for the most optimal 3D presentation. Turbine Media suggests fans can pick up separately available 4K/Blu-ray combo pack editions if fans want a more complete package with bonus features. The 3D releases are intended to specifically emphasis the 3D presentation only.

F9: The Fast Saga 3D Blu-ray Movie, Overall Score and Recommendation  4.5 of 5

Vin Diesel and the supporting cast of actors continue to provide great wonder to the filmmaking. Director Justin Lin made something special – one of the best of the entire franchise. There is a sense of family throughout the epic action-adventure. A must-see.

Fast & Furious 9 3D is a must-own for 3D enthusiasts. The 3D visuals are spectacular throughout. The incredible 3D is first-rate and there is so much to appreciate about the presentation – both the nice depth and the immersive quality of the transfer.

The 3D visuals have some nice effects, too. The presentation is a must-see for fans of the Fast & Furious film franchise. One of the interesting things about the 3D presentation is that it was produced and then distributed exclusively in international markets. The 3D presentation was not given a stateside release for some reason. Fans who were not able to experience Fast & Furious 9 3D in theaters due to the international-only release now have another option in how to view the 3D version. The 3D Blu-ray is a must own for enthusiasts. Highly recommended.
