Everything Everywhere All At Once Blu-ray Movie Review

Reviewed by Jeffrey Kauffman July 30, 2023

Much as they did with Midsommar 4K, Midsommar, The Lighthouse and The Lighthouse 4K, A24 is going the deluxe collector's edition retailer exclusive route again with this wonderfully wacky film, and indeed A24 is providing packaging that is at least somewhat similar to the packaging of those aforementioned releases (see below for details). Again per A24's retailer exclusive tradition, the packaging is the same for their 1080 and 4K UHD releases of this film, with the obvious exception of the disc. I've included photos of the packaging with this review and will discuss the bonus items below.

  • Mini Docs
  • Who the Hell Did All the Visual Effects in Everything Everywhere All At Once? (HD; 35:49) is a really sweet and often funny piece with a team including Zak Stoltz, Ethan Feldblau, Benjamin Brewer and Jeff Desom, who in some cases literally created the astounding effects in their bedroom and/or utility closet "offices".

  • Son Lux Scores Everything Everywhere All At Once (HD; 22:32) is another appealing piece focusing on the music, with Ryan Lott, Rafiq Bhatia and Ian Chang.
  • Commentaries
  • Production Commentary (2023) features Jonathan Wang (Producer), Allison Carter (Co-Producer), Jason Kisvarday (Production Design), and Kelsi Ephraim (Set Decoration)

  • Director Commentary (2022) features Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert
  • Shorts offers two works directed by Daniels:
  • Interesting Ball (2014) (HD; 12:53)

  • Pockets (2011) (HD; 3:15)
  • Everything Else
  • Alt Takes of Stephanie Hsu as Jobu Tupaki (HD; 1:27)

  • Stunt Choreography Courtesy of the Martial Club (HD; 13:40)

  • Deleted Scenes (2022) (HD; 13:51)

  • Bloopers and Outtakes (2022) (HD; 8:29)
While this release mimics the rather beautiful fabric covered slipcase that was featured in the other A24 exclusives linked to above, kind of annoyingly, none of the three is exactly the same height. This particular case is approximately 9 1/4" high by 6 1/4" wide by 5/8" deep. The slipcase is a beautiful dark rust color and features the film's title on the front and credits on the back. The DigiBook is just a bit smaller than the slipcase and has a rather beautiful mandala-like cover illustration. It's here where some of the most whimsical non disc swag A24 has provided can be found. The "book" part of the DigiBook is actually a file folder stuffed with receipts and other paraphernalia that offer evidence of Evelyn's fractured state of mind (and/or recordkeeping). The file folders also hold a foreword by Hiro Murai, a fun little booklet offering photos of "Every Evelyn All At Once" and a foldout multiverse map illustrated by Ori Toor.

Everything Everywhere All At Once Blu-ray Movie, Overall Score and Recommendation  4.5 of 5

The only downsides to this release may be its kind of steep price and the fact that not all of the supplements on the wide Lionsgate release are included her. Otherwise, this is a beautifully and kind of whimsically packaged treat that just happens to offer a fantastic film with solid technical merits. Highly recommended.
