This SteelBook release of Escape from L.A. features a matte-type finish, which I much prefer to the glossy look and feel that is the dominant industry standard. The front panel features a handsome rendering of Snake Plisken, sitting atop a motorcycle, with some L.A. palm trees behind him, with what looks to be a setting sun on the right and an explosion on the left (though its hard to tell). The film's title appears in yellow lettering, center, at a slight upward angle (accompanied by Director John Carpenter's name in small white type) and Kurt Russell's name at the top, also in yellow. The rear panel features a crude computer map of L.A., circa 2013, which is a very nifty look. The spine is black with the film's title in yellow, center.

Inside, the digital copy code is tucked underneath the left-hand-side tabs. The two discs, one UHD and one Blu-ray, are situated on the right in staggered-stacked formation. The inner print is a two-panel spread that features Snake Plisken, on the left, holding two handguns, looking to the right. The background behind him is blurred.

Escape from L.A. 4K Blu-ray Movie, Overall Score and Recommendation  3.0 of 5

Solid SteelBook. I particularly like the rear panel design and the image of Snake Plisken on the inside, which is pushed to the left so as not to get lost under the discs. The movie is so-so but the UHD is pretty strong, though the lack of extras definitely bring it down a dew notches. Worth a buy for hardcore packaging collectors and fans of the film.
