Erotic Ghost Story II Blu-ray Movie Review

Erotic Ghost Story II is the second installment in the popular adult film series. As the sequel to the popular Hong Kong Category III adult film, Erotic Ghost Story II is produced by Lan Chan Choi (Erotic Ghost Story) and Lee Ying. Executive produced by Lam Chua (Mr. Nice Guy, Armour of God), Erotic Ghost Story II stars Anthony Chau-Sang Wong, Ichijo Sayuri, Charine Chan, Yiu-Wah Kwok, King-Man Chik, So Man, Amy Yip, Lai-Si Lui, and Siu-Yin Tsang.

Wu-tung (Anthony Chau-Sang Wong) wants as much pleasure as possible. A demon known for his epic lust, Wu-tung lusts after the beautiful Chiu-Sheng (Ichijo Sayuri). Unfortunately, Chiu-Sheng ends up being captured and Wu-tung is at a loss.

The lust of Wu-tung continues. Wu-tung ends up soon requesting the village leaders deliver to him one seductive virgin after another for his sexual desires. Despite losing Chiu-Sheng, Wu-tung’s sexual appetite won’t be subdued.

Anthony Chau-Sang Wong and Ichijo Sayuri both impress in their leading roles. The on-screen chemistry adds to the filmmaking. The supporting cast of characters includes Fang Yu-Yin (Charine Chan), Shan-Ken (Yiu-Wah Kwok), Chen (King-Man Chik), Fairy 1 (So Man), Fairy 2 (Amy Yip), Village girl (Lai-Si Lui), and Wutung's offsider (Siu-Yin Tsang). Anthony Chau-Sang Wong and Ichijo Sayuri impress in their leading roles. The ensemble does good work with Erotic Ghost Story II.

Written by Casey Chan (Fighting Fist, Lost in Wrestling), Amy Choi, Abe Kwong (The Day That Doesn't Exist, Fighting to Survive), Dai-Oh Lam, Peter Ngor, and On Szeto (Warriors Two, The Old Master), the screenplay is decent and has some good moments throughout the adult feature. There are some nice sequences with characterizations elevating the feature above a standard adult film. The screenplay has elements of fantasy offering intriguing qualities to the production – enhancing the film on numerous levels. The script is much better than expected – well-done by the screenwriters.

Directed by Peter Ngor (The Tragic Fantasy: Tiger of Wanchai, Legendary Couple), Erotic Ghost Story II is not quite on the same level as the first installment in the Erotic Ghost Story film series. The filmmaking still makes a solid impression with good directing and stylistic flourishes. The fantasy element is well done throughout the second installment.

There are some breathtaking visuals throughout the feature and these production elements showcase how a good adult feature can sometimes feel as refreshing as arthouse cinema. Erotic Ghost Story II is almost as good as the first film in the series – even if it doesn’t quite reach the same classic status. Erotic Ghost Story II is a must-see for fans of classic adult cinema.

Released on Blu-ray by Shout Factory, Erotic Ghost Story II is presented in 1080p MPEG-4 AVC encoded high-definition in the original theatrical aspect ratio of 1.85:1 widescreen. The high-definition video is beautiful and filmic looking. Color reproduction is excellent, too. The naturally filmic presentation has a fine layer of film grain that looks quite wonderful on the release. The scan is in excellent shape and showcases good fine detail in the presentation.

Erotic Ghost Story II Blu-ray Movie, Audio Quality 

The release is presented in Cantonese DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 Mono (with English subtitles). The lossless audio is crisp and engaging on the release. Dialogue is well reproduced. The soundtrack is similarly highlighted well on the release. The lossless encoding provides good depth overall. The soundstage excellent for a mono audio presentation.

Erotic Ghost Story II is a fantastic adult feature. The second film in the classic adult film series, Erotic Ghost Story II has great erotic sequences. The production looks beautiful and lush throughout. The cinematography filmic and visually compelling.

The Blu-ray release features an excellent transfer and lossless audio. The release also comes with a selection of bonus features. Recommended.
