Erotic Ghost Story is the first and most famous entry in the beloved Hong Kong adult film series. A famous “Category III” adult film, Erotic Ghost Story is the start of one of the most popular adult film series in Hong Kong cinema history. Produced by Lan Chan Choi (Erotic Ghost Story II) and Chun-Tung Chow (Saga of the Phoenix, Erotic Ghost Story III), Erotic Ghost Story is a must-see for fans of classic adult cinema.

 Hua-Hua (Amy Yip), Fei Fei (Hitomi Kudô), and Pai So-So (So Man) are three sisters who are also spirits. The sisters have shifted into human form for their carnal delights. The three sisters are fox spirits – all three beautiful and seductive maidens. The three women lust after an educated scholar (Ha Chia Ling) and set forth to seduce him.

The beautiful spirits will do anything possible to provide the scholar with as much sexual pleasure as he desires. As the story unfolds, the fox spirits also find themselves drawn to having fun sexual encounters with other women. The beaty of seduction unfolds.

The supporting cast of characters in Erotic Ghost Story include Mrs. Wong (Chi Jan Ha), Wu Ming (Pal Sinn), Mr Wong (Manfred Wong), Cafe Owner (Gwa-Pau Sai), Thug (Wai-To Chan), and the Woman Washing Clothes (Kiyoko Kamimura). The supporting cast members also add to the production. An engaging supportive cast.

The three lead women are all impressive in Erotic Ghost Story. Amy Yip, Hitomi Kudô, and So Man are all enormously gorgeous. The three leading actresses are stunning beauties – the women have lush and beautiful bodies. It is easy to be absorbed by their beauty. The performances are good, too.

Composed by Fei-Lit Chan (The Prodigal Son, The Ultimate Vampire), Erotic Ghost Story is a compelling score. The music is a better-than-expected backdrop to the sex scenes. The score is engaging and well done. A highlight of the feature.

The cinematography by Ngai Choi Lam (The Avenging Eagle, Claws of the Eagle) is lush and beautiful. The lensing is superb. Lam is a gifted cinematographer and there is a lot of wonder in the stunning cinematography.

Edited by Peter Cheung (Fist of Fury, The Way of the Dragon) and Chuen-Tak Keung (Riki-Oh: The Story of Ricky, She Shoots Straight), Erotic Ghost Story is well-edited throughout. The editing is surprisingly effective and every bit as good as any classic Hong Kong feature – perhaps not so surprising given impressive talent involved.

The art direction by Sai-Wan Lau (The Three Swordsmen, Man of the Times) is one of the best qualities of the feature. Lau is a talented art director and someone with a keen visual sensibility for the production. An outstanding effort, Erotic Ghost Story features superb sets – so much so that some elements create an almost painterly quality – it is fair to say these elements make it feel like an art-house adult feature.

Written by Kwan Tsang, Erotic Ghost Story features a top-tier adult feature screenplay. The script is well done. The story is simple but highly enjoyable. The spirit element creates a fantasy setting that feels creative and perfect as a transition to the sex scenes.

Directed by Ngai Choi Lam (The Deadly Breaking Sword, The Kung Fu Instructor), Erotic Ghost Story is a beautifully directed adult feature. Erotic Ghost Story is one of the most beautiful adult features from classic Hong Kong adult cinema. Erotic Ghost Story features many beautiful sex scenes – especially seductive lesbian sex scenes – which are intoxicating and easy to be mesmerized by. For anyone interested in classic adult cinema (especially Hong Kong cinema), Erotic Ghost Story is essential.

Released on Blu-ray by Shout Factory, Erotic Ghost Story is presented in 1080p MPEG-4 AVC encoded high-definition in the original theatrical aspect ratio of 1.85:1 widescreen. The release features an excellent high-definition presentation. The transfer is a perfect showcase for the filmic style of cinematography. Gorgeous visuals and lensing. The presentation capably showcases the film.

Erotic Ghost Story Blu-ray Movie, Audio Quality 

The release includes a selection of lossless audio options: Cantonese DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 Mono (with English subtitles), English DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 Mono, and Mandarin DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 Mono (with English subtitles). The alternate Mandarin Cut is also available with only Mandarin DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 Mono. The audio quality is excellent on the release. The Cantonese audio presentation sounds impressive. Dialogue is clear and well reproduced. The score is a wonderful highlight of the release.

Erotic Ghost Story is one of the best classic adult films of Hong Kong cinema. The filmmaking is every bit as impressive as any feature. The production looks beautiful and the actresses are gorgeous. There are incredible sex scenes and the filmmaking perfectly showcases the beauty of the leading actresses.

The Blu-ray release features an excellent high-definition transfer and lossless audio. The release also has an impressive selection of bonus features. Highly recommended.
