Dragon Ball Super is the action-packed sequel anime series to the beloved anime classic Dragon Ball Z. The series picks up the story following the events of the original fan-favorite anime. Based on the original manga by Akira Toriyama, Dragon Ball Super is an exciting series for action-anime fans. Distributed by Crunchyroll in North America, the Dragon Ball Super: Complete Series steelbook collection is a must have for series fans and steelbook collectors.
Dragon Ball Super is an incredible series for fans of the Dragon Ball franchise. There are plenty of call backs to the original while the series paves things forward. The return of the central cast is also an excellent component of the sequel. Adrenaline packed fights and high-octane adventures await audiences. Goku and friends have returned.
Anyone with an affection for Dragon Ball and its extended universe will appreciate the fact that the series is such a staple of action-anime. The action sequences are enormously entertaining. There is something wonderfully engaging about the Super Saiyan power-ups and the manner in which the characters duke it out while fighting to save the planet (and the universe). These elements make Dragon Ball Super an essential addition to the Dragon Ball saga, with exciting action scenes providing fans with exactly what they want: adrenaline-packed excitement.
An outstanding complete collection for Dragon Ball fans.
Fans of Dragon Ball Z will be overjoyed to return to the series. Featuring outstanding production values, action-packed choreography, and an outstanding cast of characters, Dragon Ball Super is essential for fans of action anime. The sequel paves things forward and finds new ways to explore the characters while returning to familiar territory for fans.
The series retains the vibe of the original anime Dragon Ball Z anime series, while providing a new type of animation experience. Gone are the hand-drawn cell-based elements that were so essential to the original series. (These days, the animators work using tablets and computers). Despite having a personal preference for the cell-based animation, the new series nonetheless is beautiful looking and fits in nicely with the original – never seeming out of place within the franchise. The animators provide Dragon Ball Super with plenty of beautiful animation.
There is something that will always remain as nostalgic when returning to the universe of Dragon Ball Z despite the changes the series has seen with time. The new Dragon Ball sequel saga fits in with the original in a wonderful way and finds the right notes for success. The directing is tight and focused. A sense of ambitious scale is provided by the filmmakers. A thrilling adventure. No Dragon Ball Super super-fan should go without owning the complete series collection – it packs a mighty punch with every episode.
Arriving on Blu-ray from Crunchyroll, Dragon Ball Super: The Complete Series is presented in 1080p MPEG-4 AVC encoded high definition in the original aspect ratio of 1.78:1 widescreen. The series is robust, colorful, and dynamic in high definition. The vibrancy of the animation is apparent on the presentation. Color reproduction is exceptional. The aesthetic of the line art is well reproduced. Stunning detail and depth. The action scenes are well showcased with excellent encoding. The presentation is one that will satisfy fans of the action-packed anime series.
The complete series release of Dragon Ball Super includes a selection of audio options: English Dolby TrueHD 5.1 surround sound and Japanese Dolby TrueHD 2.0 stereo (with English subtitles). Either of these options will provide listeners with a lossless audio encoding. The high-quality audio on the set is excellent and capably reproduces the dialogue and soundtrack. The score is well emphasized and sounds clear and crisp. The sound effects are well integrated in the surround sound design on the English dub mix. During action scenes, there is strong dimensionality to the soundtrack and the pulse of the fights seem even more intense with good bass. There is more LFE for an anime production.
The complete series collectors edition includes collectible steelbook packaging. The stunning steelbook designs in the set are breathtaking. The art work on each of the steelbook designs highlights one of the central characters of Dragon Ball Super. The back art on each has a sketch style silhouette of the main character highlighted on the front art design.
The inner designs emphasize the distinct colors which were chosen for each steelbook design. The overall impression is a steelbook box set that is enormously aesthetically appealing and that is a great match for the steelbook print given to the original Dragon Ball Z anime. These steelbooks go great next to the original series steelbooks and will look great on the shelf together for any Dragon Ball fan. Consider these a must-have for a mega fan.
