Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas 4K Blu-ray Movie Review
Reviewed by Martin Liebman November 21, 2020
Universal and Best Buy have collaborated on a store exclusive SteelBook release for Director Ron Howard's 2000 film 'How the Grinch Stole
Christmas.' The disc content is identical to that found in the 2017 wide release; a Movies Anywhere digital copy code is now included. See the
'Special Features and Extras' section of the review below for
more on the SteelBook's look and feel.

Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas 4K Blu-ray Movie, Special Features and Extras

The glossy-smooth SteelBook's front and back feature dominant blue backgrounds that show some gradation from darker blue to lighter blue and back
to darker blue towards the bottom. The top sides on both panels feature some stars. On the front, the prominent image is of the Grinch's arm, from
shoulder to hand, bent at the elbow and wearing a Santa sleeve. The green furry hand is holding a broken Christmas ornament by the fingers, a red
bulb
which says "20th Anniversary Edition," speaking of the film. It's the same (partial) image seen on the 2017 wide release, here simply replacing the
"Grinchmas Edition" text on the bulb. The film's title appears bottom left in white with the word "Grinch" larger and in green. Jim Carrey's name
appears in white
top center and a piece of the ornament, which is broken, appears at the bottom. The rear panel is simply a zoomed out view of the front, featuring
Grinch full body (again the same image used on the 2017 disc, here zoomed out rather than in). A dog with a single antler on its head and a red bow
around its neck sits at Grinch's feet. Bottom center is a small white Universal logo and legalese while bottom right is a model number. The spine holds
the same blue background and features the film's title in the same script and color scheme center. A white Universal logo appears at the bottom.
Inside, the digital copy code is tucked underneath the left-hand-side tabs. The two discs, one UHD and one Blu-ray, are situated on the right in
staggered-stacked formation. The inner print is a two-panel spread that features a festive, colorful, high angle overview of Whoville. Buildings,
Christmas lights, snow, and mingling citizens dot the landscape, all around a central Christmas tree which is unfortunately a little obscured by the spine.

Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas 4K Blu-ray Movie, Overall Score and Recommendation

This is a fairly fun and festive SteelBook even if the artwork has just been repurposed from existing imagery. The interior panel is pleasant.
Recommended.
