Fans are invited to relive all of the dramatic adventures of the people who live and work at Downton Abbey that are collected together here in the coffee-table-book-sized 'Downton Abbey: The Ultimate Collection Amazon Exclusive Limited Edition'. This impressive collection gathers all six seasons and three feature films that chronicle the Crawley family's, and their staff's, triumphs, tragedies, loves, and losses on 24 Blu-ray discs. The book-style packaging also features 57 pages of photographs, sketches, character biographies, notes on costuming, and more. The discs are housed in pockets, three to a page, and are spread across 8 pages. A content guide is also provided. The book is housed in an attractive slipbox. The set is limited to 2,850 units. A Digital Code for the three feature films redeemable via Movies Anywhere is also included. Downton Abbey: The Ultimate Legacy Collection Blu-ray Movie, Special Features and Extras 

The slipbox and the book inside it have been printed with a rich burgundy leather look that wouldn't be out of place in Downton's library. All of the lettering on the front of the slipbox is embossed and highlighted with gold foil. The fillagree around the edges of the cover are debossed and are similarly highlighted by gold foil. The slipbox's spine features identical embossing and foil highlights. The back of the slip box is flat, though Universal's logo and all associated copyright information in rendered in gold foil at the bottom. The book's spine carries over the embossing and foil highlights. Looking at the cover of the book itself, once again the title is both embossed and adorned with foil. Below the title is an embossed rendering of Highclere Castle, again highlighted in gold. Around the cover's perimeter is gold filigree identical to the cover. Opening the book, the reader finds a pocket holding the certificate of authenticity on the inside of the cover, and an introduction from writer Julian Fellows. A two-page family tree is then provided, followed by a series of two-page character biographies for the principle characters of the series and the films. Each biography consists of a paragraph of text along with a quote from the character and a collection of stills gathered from the series and the films. After the biographies, costuming becomes a focus, with the greatest amount of attention given to the elegant gowns worn by the female leads. A few pages dedicated to production design close out the writing about Downton Abbey. The pages here are of a thick and glossy stock. The text is quite large and easy to read, and the stills included are sharp, crisp, and beautifully reproduced.

Each of the seasons are essentially given two facing pages. The page to the left is comprised of a season summary, along with an episode guide which breaks down the episodes found on each disc. On-disc supplemental material is accounted for here as well. The cardstock page to the right is made up of three coated pockets each of which holds one of the season's discs. Following Season Six, three "Bonus Legacy" discs are included. Finally, the three feature films are found at the back. The final two pages consist of four half-page photos of various groupings of cast members. The endpaper provides two large photos of the entire cast, one shot inside and the other in front of Highclere Castle. When opened, the thick, glossy pages naturally lay flat, making reading and enjoying that portion of the book quite easy. However, the cardstock pages that house the discs do not, and I fear that forcing them to do so would cause damage. As a result, holding the book only half-way open when removing or replacing discs is preferred. Given that the discs are stored in pockets instead of on hubs, scratches and scuffs from removing and replacing discs may also occur, though it is possible the coating that lines the underside of the pocket may lessen the risk.

All of the season-specific legacy special features from previous Downton Abbey individual season releases are brought forward here, with one exception; there was a feature from Season Three entitled "Behind the Drama" that is absent here. There are also three discs of additional features from previous series sets. One disc, though, in particular is absent. a 90-minute feature entitled Great Houses with Julian Fellowes that was included with Downton Abbey: The Complete Collection is not found here. Downton Abbey: The Ultimate Legacy Collection Blu-ray Movie, Overall Score and Recommendation 

For now, it certainly seems as if the Downton Abbey saga may be complete. However, I assume I'm not alone in hoping that at some point in the near future we may see the series' creators gather some mix of the cast to tell additional stories of those who reside and work and the grand home. Featuring fabulous production values, incredible costuming, a phenomenal cast, and a powerful score, it's easy to see why the series and the subsequent films were the global sensation they were. Those who have yet add all of Downton's chapters to their libraries, and those looking to upgrade their individual standard releases to something more handsome will want to secure a copy before the limited numbers vanish. With an appropriate caveat for the disc storage solution here, the Downton Abbey: The Ultimate Collection Amazon Exclusive Limited Edition comes highly recommended.
