Mill Creek has released a two-film, one-disc release celebrating the directorial work of Kevin MacDonald. The collection includes his 2009 picture 'State of Play' and his 2014 film 'Black Sea.' The films feature very good ('Black Sea') to acceptable ('State of Play') 1080p video, solid 5.1 lossless soundtracks, and, satisfyingly, many of the extras from the original Universal discs (click here for 'Black Sea' and here for 'State of Play.'

Black Sea includes the two extras from the Universal disc while State of Play includes two extras from its original release while missing
a third. For a

This release does not ship with a slipcover.

For the price, audiences cannot go wrong with this release, especially if Black Sea is the target; there's almost no discernible difference between this release and the Universal issue. However, State of Play takes a definite hit in the video department and loses one of the key extras from its Universal release, so fans will have to weigh the pros and cons before buying.
