Dexter: Original Sin - Season 1 Blu-ray Movie Review

Paramount has widely released a three-disc Blu-ray SteelBook packaging variant for the 2024 TV franchise prequel 'Dexter: New Blood.' Dexter: Original Sin - Season 1 Blu-ray Movie, Special Features and Extras 

Paramount's SteelBook is glossy-smooth with some metallic accents. The front panel depicts Dexter, chest up, in a white graduation cap and gown, with a red tassel with his graduation year (91) at the top (also one of the metallic accents). At first glance, he appears to be contemplating, arm to his mouth and cheek, but it quickly becomes evident that this is a dead, severed limb; it's ghastly pale in contrast to Dexter's healthy, living tissue. The show's title appears bottom right. The rear panel includes the 12 points of "Harry's Code," beginning with "don't get caught" and ending with "no preemptive killing." Both panels feature drab gradated gray coloring. The spine is more of a uniform silvery gray with the show's title, center. A Showtime logo appears at the top and a Paramount logo customarily appears at the bottom.

Inside, there are three discs, one on its own hub on the left and two on the right on their own staggered-stacked hubs: a very familiar three-disc SteelBook layout. The inner print is a two-panel spread that features three characters: Dexter on the left, seated, as if contemplating something; Debra Morgan standing, near center, gazing to the side; and Harry Morgan, seated right, also appearing deep in thought. No digital copy code is included.

Dexter: Original Sin - Season 1 Blu-ray Movie, Overall Score and Recommendation 

I think fans will enjoy this SteelBook. It offers a nice contrast of life and death, vividness and drab colors, a fairly unique back side table, and a perfectly serviceable interior panel. Fans who enjoy the show will also find a solid technical presentation, though the absence of more in-depth extras is disappointing. Recommended for fans.
