Arrow is offering Robert Rodgriguez fans a potential conundrum of sorts, with simultaneous releases of both The Mexico Trilogy 4K and this standalone SteelBook which features Desperado on 1080 and 4K UHD discs. The disc contents match those of Arrow's wide release included in the trilogy set. I've uploaded hi res photos of the packaging to this review for those interested in taking a closer look.

On disc supplements are detailed in the above linked review. Kind of like Lionsgate's recent spate of "Bloody Disgusting" SteelBooks, this one emphasizes black on its front panel, which may require white gloves to prevent fingerprints or smudges. The front panel repeats one of the key art marketing images that accompanied the original film. The back cover offers Antonio Banderas in "rocker" mode (those with eagle eyes may note a small hole in the upper right side of the back panel, which is due to my review copy having been drilled). The interior panels feature an image of Banderas and Hayek in front of an explosion. A J card is also included. An insert booklet contains essays by Carols Aguilar and Nick Clement.

This SteelBook offers handsome if minimal design (at least on the front panel), with an evocative use of blacks. The disc contents offer secure technical merits and outstanding supplements. Recommended.
