1979’s “Daisy May” isn’t a force of dramatic urgency. Actually, it’s barely a movie, with director Fred J. Lincoln and writer Daniel Webster creating only a vaguely defined problem for the main characters to solve. The feature is more of an extended showcase for adult cinema highlights, with the cast put to work in various scenes of seduction, which take up most of the run time. There’s something of a tale in the mix, and one about the crazy power of a special juice and its influence over rural characters, but offering a study of beverage authority isn’t the goal here.

The AVC encoded image (1.84:1 aspect ratio) presentation for "Daisy May" is "newly restored" from its 35mm original camera negative. This feature is all about studying bodies in motion, and skin particulars are strong here, offering a clear look at the actors as they crawl all over one another. Costuming is also textured, with rougher denim and softer lingerie. Interiors are open for inspection as the action visits various rooms of the house. Exteriors are also dimensional with this rural setting. Colors are secure, with appealing greenery. Primaries are nicely boosted with style selections and interior design choices. Skin tones are natural. Delineation is satisfactory. Grain is fine and film-like. A few scratches are found, but the source remains in good condition.

The 2.0 DTS-HD MA mix is a straightforward understanding of "Daisy May" and its thespian achievements. Dialogue exchanges are clear, securing accent work and performance choices. Scoring is simple and supportive, and the theme song retains defined vocals.

Of course, there are questions after watching "Daisy May," but, again, tracking a story doesn't seem to be the point of the picture, which only pays occasional attention to character progression. Fulgoose is revealed to be some type of television baron at the end of the feature, which is surprising to learn, with the details of this job probably strong enough to support its own movie. Lincoln isn't paying too close attention to anything here besides couplings, and there's plenty of that in "Daisy May," which is perfectly happy walking away from personalities to deliver the goods to adult cinema fans and their limited patience with more dramatic endeavors. The Lickapoo Juice must flow!
