With his spell of impressive successes seemingly behind him, Lelouch Lamperouge’s hopes of destroying the Britannian Empire presided over by his father are crumbling at an alarming rate. With his sister kidnapped, his former friend Suzaku ignoring his pleas for help, and his organisation the Black Knights losing their faith in him, the man behind Zero’s mask is left with nowhere to turn. With his power waning and betrayals around him rising, the only option left on Lelouch’s board in this all-or- nothing game of political chess is to take on the Britannian Empire - and his father - from the inside.

Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion III – Glorification is the third and final installment in the original trilogy theatrical anime franchise. The last of three films retelling the story arc of the original anime, Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion III – Glorification brings fans a new experience for the popular anime. Concluding the original run of the series, Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion III – Glorification simultaneously builds into a new installment – a genuine sequel to the original saga: the fourth feature-film, Code Geass: Lelouch of the Re;surrection. The film features character designs by CLAMP (Chobits, Cardcaptor Sakura) and the story of Goro Taniguchi an Ichiro Okouchi. The film features animation produced by Sunrise (Cowboy Bebop, Mobile Suit Gundam).
In the last installment of the trilogy adaptation of the Code Geass anime series, the stakes are higher than ever before. Lelouch (Jun Fukuyama) is still on a mission to fight for the people of Area 11 – otherwise known as the Elevens. Lelouch is determined to convince his friend Suzaku to help.
Everything hangs in the balance. The fate of Area 11 is on the table. Yet the thing Lelouch is concerned about the most is the safety of his dear Nunnally. As the story unfolds, the epic confrontation with the Holy Britannian Empire awaits. Can Lelouch be the hero of the tale, overcoming all obstacles and saving the day for Nunnally and all the others?
Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion III – Glorification features excellent character designs and superb animation. The character designs for the film are handled by Takahiro Kimura (Jungle Emperor Leo, Ghastly Prince Enma Burning Up) and the animation direction is overseen by Eiji Nakada (Overman King Gainer, Turn A Gundam), Yuriko Chiba (Flower Witch Mary Bell, Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn RE:0096), Takahiro Kimura (Godannar, GUNxSWORD), and Seiichi Nakatani (Mobile Suit Gundam 00, Gundam Reconguista in G). The film brings to life more installments of the original anime by condensing the material while retaining the artistic visual splendor that made the series so popular.
The story by Goro Taniguchi and Ichiro Okouchi is expanded with the third installment. The last of the installments in the original trilogy, Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion III – Glorification is the swan song for the original saga. Some fans might even feel as though this is the end of the line for the production. The retelling recuts and condenses the original saga and brings it to its conclusion.
Director Goro Taniguchi (Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion I – Initiation, Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion II – Transgression) brings the original saga to its close – and wraps up the original series in a reasonably good way. Fans looking to close the chapter will be left with two options – picking up the story again with the sequel installment, Code Geass: Lelouch of the Re;surrection, or ending the series on this particular note instead. Either way, Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion III – Glorification is a decent conclusion for those following the re-edited events of the original anime and it checks off some boxes fans are hoping for.
Released on Blu-ray by Funimation, Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion III – Glorification is presented in 1080p MPEG-4 AVC encoded high-definition in the original theatrical aspect ratio of 1.78:1 widescreen. The presentation capably handles the animation and provides fans with a worthwhile presentation. Animation is well presented here and the colors look great on the release. The images look great: outstanding clarity. The encoding capably handles the big action scenes. A good encode overall.
The release provides lossless audio in Japanese Dolby TrueHD 5.1 surround sound. The 24 bit high-resolution lossless presentation sounds crystal clear and engaging on the release. The soundtrack sounds great – the score well-reproduced throughout. Dialogue is clear as well. A quality lossless presentation by Funimation.

Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion III – Glorification concludes the original trilogy adapting the anime series into feature- films. The third installment has plenty to offer fans looking to conclude the journey. Even despite being a wrap-up to the original saga, the intention of the film trilogy was to create an entryway to the fourth film, a sequel: Code Geass: Lelouch of the Re;surrection. The Blu-ray release provides excellent video and audio. Recommended.
