The "King of Hollywod" stars in 4 of his greatest M-G-M classics: His portrayal of Fletcher Christian in MUTINY ON THE BOUNTY, his romance with Jeanette MacDonald in SAN FRANCISO, showing off his comedic charm with Myrna Loy and Jean Harlow in WIFE VS. SECRETARY, and playing opposite Norma Shearer in the adaptation of Robert Sherwood's play IDIOT'S DELIGHT.

Warner Archive seems to be stepping up their multi-disc collection efforts in recent months, and that's very good news indeed for anyone looking to fill up their shelves on the cheap: these low-risk sets simply bundle together a quartet of like-minded titles in a space-saving format for half-dollars on the dollar. As its title implies, this sleek Clark Gable 4-Film Collection bundles together four films starring (or co-starring) the dashing, mustachioed leading man: 1935's Mutiny on the Bounty (sans moustache), 1936's San Francisco and Wife Versus Secretary, and 1939's Idiot's Delight.

This four-disc set ships in a hinged keepcase with separate hubs for each disc. Like previous WAC multi-disc collections, this one simply repurposes existing poster-themed cover artwork as a four-piece collage. Several lightweight bonus features, identical to those found the previous Blu-rays linked above, can be found on each disc.

True to its title, Warner Archive's sleek new Clark Gable 4-Film Collection bundles together four films starring (or co-starring) the dashing, mustachioed leading man: 1935's Mutiny on the Bounty (sans moustache), 1936's San Francisco and Wife Versus Secretary, and 1939's Idiot's Delight. They're a bit of a mixed bag quality-wise, but all four are at least fairly varied in tone and should appeal to die-hard Gable fans; their respective discs offer solid A/V presentations and a few lightweight bonus features to boot. Collectively, this is an inexpensive and space-saving way to fill out your classic film collection and thus comes Recommended... unless, of course, you own most of them already.
