"Forget it, Jake, it's Chinatown" may have assumed a slightly different meaning recently, at least for any potential consumers named Jake, due to the apparent unavailability of this title for a while, but the supply chain, much like delivery of water to the Los Angeles valley, is flowing, and this "combo platter" of Chinatown in 4K and The Two Jakes in 1080 will no doubt appeal to lovers of dark, twisted mysteries. It's been a long running joke in some of my reviews of Lionsgate's 4K releases how they can seem to be geared toward offloading old 1080 discs as part of the package, and in that regard, the 1080 disc of The Two Jakes in this set appears to be the very same standalone one linked to below.

Because this is a rather strange "combo platter" release, as mentioned above, there is a separate page for the 4K presentation of Chinatown,
as well as Marty's older review for the 1080 presentation of The Two Jakes. Assessments can be read by clicking on the following links:

I'll merely note in passing that since this release offers no 1080 presentation for Chinatown, the screenshots from Chinatown
included here were taken directly from the 4K UHD disc and then downscaled
to 1080 and SDR and so do not offer an
accurate representation of the palette in particular.

Audio quality is assessed in the following reviews:

The Two Jakes has no supplemental material. Supplements on the Chinatown disc are detailed in the above linked review. Packaging features a slipcover which has an openable cover that reveals the original poster for the film (sideways).

While, yes, Paramount may indeed be dealing with the "remainder" 1080 disc of The Two Jakes by pairing that lesser celebrated sequel with its progenitor, this still makes for a very appealing set, one bolstered by the excellent technical merits and supplemental package on the new 4K rendering of Chinatown. Highly recommended.
