Chatroom (2010)

Hideo Nakata's big-screen adaptation of Enda Walsh's stage play thriller. Four teenagers - Jim (Matthew Beard), Eva (Imogen Poots), Emily (Hannah Murray) and Mo (Daniel Kaluuya) - meet online in a cyber chatroom dominated by the presence of the charismatic William (Aaron Johnson). As in the play, the chatroom is depicted as an actual three-dimensional space. As the dynamics deepen and intensify between the five young people, things begin to spiral dangerously out of control as they goad one another into increasingly destructive behaviour. But beneath the surface lies a much darker truth. William is a dangerous loner, a dysfunctional teenager channelling all his energies into cyberspace. He's become an analyser, a calculating manipulator who finds it almost impossible to interact normally with others in the real world, instead turning his hand to manipulating people online.
