All good things come to an end. Charmed: The Final Season brings the bewitching television saga to its ultimate conclusion. The television saga produced by Constance M. Burge, Brad Kern, Aaron Spelling, and E. Duke Vincent is an entertaining exploration of family, friendship, and the power of sisterhood. The series explores these dramatic qualities through a lens of witchcraft and demonology. A fun series with plenty of exciting twists and turns, Charmed: The Final Season is sure to cast a spell on fans of the series.
The eighth and final season of Charmed brings the magical journey of the Halliwell sisters to a close. The last adventures of the sisters begins: new drama unfold with the sisters facing more difficulties in their personal lives (while struggling with their own demons). The conclusion of the saga, Charmed: The Final Season explores the sisters final trials and tribulations (unfolding the last layer of the onion that is the Charmed Ones).
An Angel of Death awaits the heroes of the story. The Power of Three face their greatest challenges to date: Paige (Rose McGowan), Phoebe (Alyssa Milano), and Piper (Holly Marie Combs) must face down a demon underworld. The final battles of the entire television series are underway. The epic adventures of the Charmed ones have reached the end of the yellow-brick-road. There is no tomorrow – only now. Can the Halliwell sisters survive and emerge victorious?
Rose McGowan, Alyssa Milano, and Piper Holly Marie Combs shine in the final season of Charmed. The performances are essential to the success of the series. Charmed just wouldn’t be the same without the cast. McGowan is the best of the trio and she provides the series with an abundance of charm and wit (while being as beautiful as always). Alyssa Milano and Piper Holly Marie Combs return for the final outing (and still have plenty to do as the original Halliwell sisters).
The production values on Charmed are excellent. The set designs make an especially noteworthy impression. The props department did amazing work as well. The Book of Shadows is a superbly produced prop with a great aesthetic that makes the show all the more entertaining: the green oversized book being an essential component of the entire series.
There is no spoon.
The special effects aren’t that different when compared to preceding seasons yet the effects work is certainly attributable to part of the series success: the efforts help to shape the series and make it a successful production. The demonic figures and otherworldly creatures make the series showcase an above-standard use of special effects (and the effects work is also better than one find with many genre television series).
The series benefits from excellent costumes as well. The hair and make-up department also aided the program with great attributes. These components are perfectly complimentary to the cast and this is certainly one of the elements that was most essential to the production department. A solid job by everyone involved.
The final season of the series is a nice visual showcase for Charmed. The series manages a nice tonal balance visually: blending together a realistic drama tone (with the character interactions and their familial experiences) with the more fantastical components one would expect from a television production centered around a landscape of magic.
The score by Jay Gruska and J. Peter Robinson soars in the final season. The music provides Charmed with the right components for a final season farewell. The composers behind Charmed bring some interesting music elements to the forefront of the story. The end result is impressively realized.
Fans are unlikely to ever be ready to say farewell to Charmed. Nonetheless, endings are an inevitability in life. There is nothing in the world that lasts forever and every wonderful thing to exist will one day cease. The final season of Charmed comes to a close but fans can cherish rewatching the series with these Blu-ray releases. The conclusion has been reached and the journey is the most important part.
Arriving on Blu-ray from Paramount Pictures, Charmed: The Final Season is presented in 1080p MPEG-4 AVC encoded high definition in a 1.78:1 widescreen aspect ratio. The high-definition presentation is an impressive one. The episodes are well encoded. The bit-rates are suitable for the television saga. The color reproduction is excellent. The widescreen aspect ratio makes the series much more cinematic (without unnecessary cropping). The release is a nice looking one that fans should consider a huge upgrade visually.
The release is presented in DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 stereo. The lossless audio quality on the release retains the original sound design. The audio quality sounds crisp and clear – providing the series with plenty of depth and detail. Dialogue reproduction remains exceptionally clear and easy to understand. The score is well integrated in to the sound mixing as well. A well-rounded audio presentation on the whole. A solid job by Paramount.
Surprise! Charmed: The Final Season helps rectify some of the pitfalls of the previous season sets by providing a nice supplemental package. For more information, keep reading:
