Brain De Palma's acclaimed 'Carlito's Way' returns to 4K UHD disc in the new 'Carlito's Way: Limited Edition SteelBook 4K' courtesy of Universal. The film stars Al Pacino ('Scarface (1983)') as the titular character who has been recently released from prison, Sean Penn ('This Must Be the Place'), Luis Guzman ('The Caller'), Penelope Ann Miller ('The Artist'), and Ingrid Rogers ('Bosch'). The 4K UHD disc included in this release is identical to the wide release from 2021. As such it includes a modest assortment of extras and a DTS:X audio track. A Blu-ray disc, and a Digital Code redeemable via Movies Anywhere are also included. For a discussion of this new SteelBook, please scroll down to the "Special Features and Extras" section.

The cover of the Carlito's Way: Limited Edition SteelBook 4K is dominated by an image of Al Pacino's Carlito. Just below his neck, his name
appears above the film's title. Below the film's title is co-star Sean Penn's name. The Brooklyn Bridge is to Pacino's left, and a building covered with fire
escapes is to his right. The largely black-and-white image is highlighted by a stylized skin tone for Pacino's face and neck, and there are metallic red
flourishes for his sunglasses (which reflect an important image), his name, and that of Sean Penn. The reverse features a shadowed and intricate image
of a fire escape, and the brick wall and windows of the building to which it is attached. Centered, and printed in metallic red are the words "NOBODY
STAYS AT THE TOP FOREVER" (capitalized in the original). Universal's logo is centered at the bottom, and product number is found in the lower right
corner. The SteelBook's spine is black and the film's title is centered and printed in white block letters. Universal's logo is found at the bottom.
Opening the SteelBook, the tabs on the left hold the Digital Code. On the right side, the 4K UHD disc and the Blu-ray disc are stagger-stacked, each on
its own hub, with the 4K UHD disc on top. Removing all of the contents reveals a two panel image of from the film. It's a crowded exterior shot of
Carlito walking up to the front of the El Paraiso. It's a fitting overall design keeps it's focus on Pacino and the city where the film is set. There are no
embossed or debossed elements. The SteelBook's matte finish should do an admirable job of resisting fingerprints associated with normal handling.

The red metallic highlights elevate the SteelBook's exterior, while the architecture on the front and back effectively ground Pacino's Carlito in New York City. The film is every bit as engrossing as the other classic film De Palma and Pacino worked on together, 1983s Scarface. The new cover provides a simple and effective image, and for fans of the film, the new Carlito's Way: Limited Edition SteelBook 4K comes recommended.
