On the run in the year 1987, Bumblebee finds refuge in a junkyard in a small Californian beach town. Charlie (Hailee Steinfeld), on the cusp of turning 18 and trying to find her place in the world, discovers Bumblebee, battle-scarred and broken. When Charlie revives him, she quickly learns this is no ordinary, yellow VW bug.

Paramount and Best Buy have collaborated on a store exclusive SteelBook release for the hit 'Transformers' reboot film 'Bumblebee.' The attractive SteelBook houses the same material included with the wide release 4K package, including the physical comic book. For more on this SteelBook's look and feel, see the 'Special Features and Extras' section of this review below.

Bumblebee's yellopw-dominant SteelBook is a looker. The color manages to stand apart without appearing gaudy. It's the character's famous
color, of course, as seen in practically every iteration since the G1 Transformers. On the front, the character is given shape by black lines of
various density,
the thickest coming around the necklines, the arms, and the lower torso, which gives way to a shape of the VW Beetle car, front facing, its headlights
turned on. The film's title appears centered in white letters but a little bit below the central X-axis. It's the only color that's not black and yellow, save
for the
character's striking blue eyes. It's a very attractive front image, simple and straightforward, and could only be improved by removing the film's title
altogether and allowing the artwork to sell the package. The rear side carries over the same basic color scheme, featuring a small, centered image of
Bee in his transformed state. The car is driving towards the right on a straight slab of black pavement. A few logos and a little legalese appear
unobtrusively along the bottom. The spine breaks from the rest of the outer shell, foregoing the dominant yellow and instead featuring a straight black
line with the film's title in white, center. The
only yellow on the spine proper colors a Paramount logo at the top and a Blu-ray disc logo at the bottom (even though this set prominently includes a
UHD
copy of the film). The SteelBook is a fingerprint magnet but won't show much on the front or rear.
Inside, the digital copy code is situated underneath the left-hand side tabs. The two discs, one Blu-ray and one UHD, are housed on the right in
staggered-stacked formation. The inner print is a two-panel spread that depicts Bumblebee and human heroine Charlie Watson starring towards a
beautiful sunset. Both characters appear entirely under the disc hubs on the right-hand side. The image is handsome and a nice change of pace from
the louder outer coverings. The set also includes the physical glossy cover comic book entitled Sector 7 Adventures: The Battle at Half Dome.

Bumblebee's SteelBook finds a nice balance between elements that will make it stand out but also compliment the film. The yellow does not overwhelm the presentation, and the quality of the artwork on both front and rear is excellent. The film and its UHD presentation is solid, too; fans can rest assured that what's inside this case is just as good as what's on the outside. Highly recommended.
