Bullet Train 4K Blu-ray Movie Review

Reviewed by Martin Liebman October 26, 2022

Sony has widely released a UHD SteelBook packaging variant for the 2022 Action/Comedy film 'Bullet Train.' The disc and digital content is identical to that found in the wide release. See the 'Special Features and Extras' section of the review below for more on the SteelBook's look and feel.

Bullet Train 4K Blu-ray Movie, Special Features and Extras  3.5 of 5

Sony's matte SteelBook depicts Lemon, center, standing in the doorway to a train car, a yellow light behind him. A long shadow is cast on the train car floor in front of him. Inside this shadowy floor is the film's title (along with Brad Pitt's name), center in yellow color. Above him is a purple and yellow accented ceiling. Around him, lying in wait in the shadows, are a few characters ready to strike with various bladed weapons. The rear panel is dark, lit for much of the top half, featuring a sign that reads "Quiet Car." The sign is cracked because a knife is embedded into its bottom. The spine is a dark purple with the film's title in yellow, center. A Columbia logo appears at the bottom.

Inside, the digital copy code, as well as nine full-color glossy character cards (which measure about the size of the left-hand panel) are tucked underneath the left-hand-side tabs. The two discs, one UHD and one Blu-ray, are situated on the right in staggered-stacked formation. The inner print is a two-panel spread that features an image of a blade on the right with colorful streaks behind it, giving the illusion of rapid movement. To the sword's right edge is a pleasing pastel sunset-inspired color scheme.

Bullet Train 4K Blu-ray Movie, Overall Score and Recommendation  4.0 of 5

This is a nicely designed SteelBook and the character cards are cool, but at a $15 premium over the wide release (at time of writing)? That's a hard pass save for the most ardent fans of the film or for packaging collectors.
