Braveheart 4K Blu-ray Movie Review
Reviewed by Martin Liebman June 18, 2020
Paramount and Best Buy have collaborated on a store exclusive UHD SteelBook release for 1995's Oscar winning epic 'Braveheart.' The disc and
digital content is identical to that found in the wide release. See the 'Special Features and Extras' section of the review below
for more on the SteelBook's look and feel.

Braveheart 4K Blu-ray Movie, Special Features and Extras

This SteelBook is slick and glossy and will show fingerprints, but the lighter color scheme will mask the intensity thereof. The front panel depicts William
Wallace, in full face paint, raising his sword in his right hand to the sky. A chaotic battle scene plays out behind him. The film's title runs vertically down
the left-hand side. The last couple of letters appear to be enflamed within. Mel Gibson's name accompanies. There is a reflectiveness to several of the
surfaces, including the sword, shield, and small metallic rivets on Wallace's costume. The rear panel depicts a classy image of Wallace's sword in the
ground, center. About the bottom 40% of the SteelBook depicts a foggy, subdued green field. Men stand along the horizon, ready for battle. A gloomy
overcast sky hangs above. A Paramount logo and model number appear on the bottom right in white. A copyright notice in white appears center. The
spine is a near-white color with the film's title in black, center. A Paramount logo appears at the top while Blu-ray and UHD logos as well as a "3-disc
set" notice appear at the bottom.
Inside, the digital copy code floats; there are no left-hand-side tabs to hold it down. The UHD disc is situated on its own center hub on the left while the
feature film and Blu-ray bonus discs are situated on the right in
staggered-stacked formation. The inner print is a two-panel spread that features a still from one of the epic battle scenes in the film. It's a broad rather
than focused shot, but the focus of the interior panels is a key quote from the film, half appearing on each side underneath the discs. On the left is the
text "They may take away our lives." The right side finishes the quote with "But they'll never take our freedom." It is attributed to William Wallace. The
entire scene is fairly bleak, light gray, overcast looking. That's almost no color but like everything else about this SteelBook, it's classy.

Braveheart 4K Blu-ray Movie, Overall Score and Recommendation

It's been more than two full years since Braveheart first arrived on the UHD format, but better late than never for a stunning SteelBook
release.
Braveheart
and companion release Gladiator stand as two of the nicer ones on the market.
Braveheart's UHD SteelBook earns my highest recommendation.
