Sony and Best Buy have collaborated on a store exclusive SteelBook release of the Oscar-winning War film 'Black Hawk Down.' The SteelBook includes the same content as found in the wide release. See the 'Special Features and Extras' section of the review below for more on the SteelBook.

Best Buy's exclusive SteelBook release of Black Hawk Down features the same artwork on its front as can be seen on the wide release
packaging, which is somewhat disappointing. There is a very mild metallic look to the artwork, though, which features two soldiers rappelling down
from a Black Hawk into Mogadishu. The image is very desaturated, holding a slight bit of green and almost looking as if it's seen through night vision
goggles. The main difference between the SteelBook and the wide release is the absence of the film's title, a critic blurb, and format branding, which
gives it a cleaner, more artistic look, so even without changing the image it's a better representation thereof. The rear side features the same color
tones and mild metallic styling, this time featuring another familiar image, this one of Josh Hartnett's Matt Eversmann sitting on the edge of a chopper,
M-16 cradled in his right arm and holding his helmet in his left hand. The spine is a simple flat black with the film's title appearing in silvery block
letters
slightly above center. A Columbia Pictures logo appears at the bottom.
Inside, the digital copy code floats; there are no tabs. There are three disc hubs, one of the left and two on the right (in standard staggered-stacked
formation) holding the UHD, the Blu-ray, and the Blu-ray bonus discs. There is no inner print image. It's simply a flat teal/turquoise/aqua type color.

The film is exceptional, the UHD presentation is even better, and the SteelBook is serviceable. It captures something of a modest wartime grit about it, though it does simply recycle familiar images for its front and back artwork. There is no inner print. Still, it's a nice looking collectible overall and SteelBook fans shouldn't be disappointed to have it in the collection, particularly considering the amazing content inside.
