Beetlejuice Blu-ray Movie Review
Reviewed by Martin Liebman September 11, 2019
Warner Brothers and Best Buy have collaborated on a store exclusive SteelBook release for Director Tim Burton's 1988 film 'Beetlejuice.' This set
adds a digital copy not included in the 2008 Blu-ray but it does give up a couple of additional off-disc extras. See the 'Special
Features and Extras' section of the review below for more on the SteelBook's look and feel and for the digital and supplemental differences.

Beetlejuice Blu-ray Movie, Special Features and Extras

The glossy, fingerprint attracting SteelBook depicts the title character from behind in a body and head black-and-white (with some green) depiction.
From the hidden face,
a number of tentacles of varying shapes and sizes and colors extend, replicating one of the more memorable moments from the movie. These, along
with a green circle, add
some splashes of color to the otherwise black-and-white character model; reds, greens, and yellows are predominantly featured. The film's title (along
with
Michael Keaton's name) appears top and centered in playful green lettering. The rear side is a glossy piano black with a green-tinted tombstone,
center. A gargoyle is perched atop and a couple of skeletons peek out from the side. "Here lies Betelgeuse" text is written on the front. This is another
iconic prop from the movie. The spine follows the front and rear design prompts, presenting with a glossy black and the film's title in the same green
lettering center.
A Warmer Brothers logo appears at the bottom.
Inside, the digital copy code is tucked underneath the left-hand-side tabs. The lone Blu-ray disc is situated on the right hand panel. The inner print is a
two-panel spread that features a green-tinted image of Beetlejuice on the left, again as on the front cover with his back to the viewer and the various
tentacles
exploding from his face. Terrified humans Adam and Barbara react on the right.

booklet and an audio CD sampler that shipped with the original release.
Beetlejuice Blu-ray Movie, Overall Score and Recommendation

It was less than a year ago that Warner Brothers and Best Buy released a different SteelBook for Beetlejuice; what was once a packaging novelty has become yet
another revenue stream for quick turnarounds with no real rhyme or reason concerning release date. Regardless, this particular variation is nice
enough and is a great,
affordable point of entry for newcomers and cheap enough for a packaging double dip. Recommended.
