Warner Brothers has released a SteelBook packaging variant for Director Tim Burton's 1989 masterpiece noir Superhero film 'Batman.' The disc and digital content is identical to that found in the 2009 DigiBook wide release. See the 'Special Features and Extras' section of the review below for more on the SteelBook's look and feel.

Warner Brothers' Batman SteelBook is simple but gorgeous. The matte surface is nice and textured and won't slip and slide in the hand. The
front panel hearkens back to the old VHS cover and the poster artwork, which features the Batman logo, black inside an orange/yellow oval, center. The
film's title appears top center in a lightly bronze-ish color, accompanied by actor names Jack Nicholson, Michael Keaton, and Kim Basinger. No clutter, no
fuss, just a
classic look for a classic film. The rear panel is equally understated, featuring just a simple image of the Dark Knight as if emerging from shadow or
disappearing behind a smokescreen. The same black and bronze/yellow-orange color scheme remains. At the bottom is a billing block that is large
enough to be legible but not so large as to dominate the panel. The spine simply features the title against a a black background, slightly above center. A
Blu-ray disc logo appears at the top and a Warner Brothers logo at the bottom.
Inside, the lone Blu-ray disc appears on its own hub on the right-hand side. The inner panel is simply a straight silver color with no artwork of any kind
to be found.

Tim Burton's Batman is this reviewer's favorite Superhero movie, probably in a virtual tie with 1978's Superman. The SteelBook packaging variant is gorgeous. The front and rear panels are perfectly designed for both expressiveness and subtlety by simply following the original design cues. It's superior even to the 4K SteelBook. Get 'em while they're still available. Very highly recommended.
