Bad Boys 1 & 2 4K Blu-ray Movie Review

Sony and Best Buy have collaborated on a store exclusive UHD SteelBook combo release for 'Bad Boys' and 'Bad Boys II.' This four-disc release is identical to the wide release in terms of its disc and digital contents, which was itself distributed in nontraditional packaging. Bad Boys 1 & 2 4K Blu-ray Movie, Special Features and Extras 

The SteelBook's front cover can be best described as "busy." It's of predominantly brown coloring, a darker brown at the bottom and a lighter beige at the top. The films' titles -- Bad Boys I & II -- appear center in yellow letters against a black background, outlined by top and bottom horizontal bars. Above the title are prominent depictions of franchise main characters Burnett and Lowrey, the former of whom is facing more towards the left and aiming a gun, the latter looking off to the right. Around them, and around the title, is a more or less circular jumble of mess, a hodgepodge collage of characters and guns strewn all over in a seemingly disorderly manner. Around the periphery are some signs of damage and wear to the background. The rear side is a little more simplistic, depicting, again, Burnett and Lowrey, and more prominently than the front. The former is flat on his belly and the latter is raised a little aiming a pistol towards a hostile. Out-of-focus city background appears behind them. The front and rear panels are not glossy and enjoy a slight texture about them. This SteelBook will not show fingerprints. The same brown-beige color scheme defines the rear's palette. The spine carries over the colors and transitions from the front. The film's title, in the same style, appears center. A Sony Pictures logo appears bottom.

Inside, the digital copy code floats; there are no tabs. The four discs, two UHD and two Blu-ray, are each situated on their own tabs; there are no disc stacks. The left and right panels hold one each while the other two are on a movable leaf in the middle. As with most Sony SteelBook releases, there is no inner print, just a solid color. In this case, that color is a bronze hue that compliments the exterior shell quite well.

Bad Boys 1 & 2 4K Blu-ray Movie, Overall Score and Recommendation 

This is a very nice alternative to the unusually dimensioned UHD boxed set. It is subjectively not the nicest looking SteelBook on the market but it suits the movies' tones quite nicely and will fit right in to any SteelBook collection. Of course being a Sony product the on-disc content is first-rate. Highly recommended.
